I remember that. So was I. In the end I think you can do any descending pentatonic or blues pentatonic thing with slurs as long as you land on the right note at the end. I don't think it was every meant to be played again, just a one-time improv bit.

I feel your tab of this song pays attention to every nuance of johns playing! I have the live tab in my john mayer live performances book, but the tab isn't quite as intricate! Though as I've learned you don't have to play john mayer songs exactly as he plays it. The book version is more similar to what a studio recorded version of the song would sound like.
