I have a sweet Afghan friend who taught me to knead dough in a bowl on the floor. It’s waaaay easier to mix, knead, or stretch when you have the benefit of gravity.
Sounds like you prepared well for a good market day. I did our local farmer's market all summer long, and I've found it very helpful to have plastic folding crates (InstaCrates available from Costco) to carry my supplies and some products in. At the end of market day, I put all my supplies back in a crate and keep them there for the next market day. Leftovers and anything that needs to be washed go in other crates. The crates have handles and are stackable, which is really handy. The only sourdough items I've been selling at the farmer's market so far are bagels and soft pretzels. I'd love to do bread, too, but since my focus has been on pastries, cakes and cookies, I just don't have time to fit everything in even though I do spread out my prep work and baking throughout the week. I highly recommend the soft pretzels/bagels because they are the perfect midday/afternoon snack. It's good to have things that people want first thing in the morning (breakfast), and then later around lunch time they'll reach for more savory items and cookies. My fellow vendors were hungry and quickly learned that they could get their "meals" from me, which was a plus. I love your idea of mini bread loaves. Our season is already over, but I think next year I may introduce mini bread loaves (my favorite are seeded and Danish rye) or bread rolls. Thanks!
Love it. On top of making all the stuff, prepare to sell at a market is a lot to manage. Having a checklist for markets is SUPER helpful! Maybe make a PDF download available for bakers selling at a market? ❤
Great idea! I’ve been so busy with other things that I haven’t had time to sit down and make digital resources for my fellow bakers but I’m working on lots of them! I’ll get them beautiful and available soon ❤
I'm happy to hear it went well for you. I would recommend hiring someone to sell for you on market days. That way you can rest and fulfill other obligations for your business and home life.
It’s a great idea, but I think one of the biggest joys for me was meeting and interacting with all of my customers at the market and doing my own networking. I would completely miss that human element if I was just prepping and baking. I should actually hire a helper and offset some of the workload with prepping and baking 😂❤
@@EE-hi4rea packaging helper alone would be so helpful ❤ I’m honestly not making loads of money yet, because we are still in the startup phase… but soon 😊
hi hannah!! i was wondering if you could share where you got your insurance from if it was an online place? that's where im struggling at atm. thank you so much and im so happy the market did you well
@@lupitao04 right now there’s only 2 recipes I’m not sharing since I’ve worked hard to craft and perfect them for selling and that’s my cinnamon roll and brown butter chocolate chip cookie recipe. I’ll let you know if I change my mind 😊

@crustycravingsbyhannah I see. Yes, an assistant baker, or someone to bag, pack, set up would be great as well.

It’s called FLIP insurance and it’s specifically for food and beverage liability and product coverage! They’re super easy to work with! 😊
Please let me know what company you used for your liability insurance. Thanks.
