I'm an old man and I've seen a lot of movies. This, among all of them, is the best I've seen. It goes so far beyond the stunning visuals and the emotional tugs. The GIANT theme of not being constrained to a pre-defined role in life and the central idea that kind is better than cruel are much grander than you'd expect from a talking animal movie. I've been waiting for the reactors to get around to it and I couldn't be happier that it was you and Cinebinge, Mary.

This film still holds a special place in my heart as not only did it came in 1995 but I just love that it’s a balance of Practical and CG effects on bringing Babe, Ferdinand, the sheepdogs and sheep to life. Not to mention James Cromwell who played Arthur Hoggett made him into a vegan afterwards and last year he got a chance to interact with a piglet aptly named Babe that was soon sent to an animal sanctuary.

For the many roles she portrayed in children's animation as Dexter (Dexter's Lab) and Chuckie (Rugrats), her legacy in this film is a reminder how truly special she was as many as those in the voice acting industry. Thank you so much for making our childhoods a blessed one. RIP Christine Cavanaugh (1963-2014). 💐🕯🌳

I'm now 40 and saw this as an Aussie kid when 11 and it really demonstrates how your perspective in life changes. The 11 year old me wouldn't have tears in my eyes as the 40 year old father me did, when the crowd erupts as the pen gate closed, because you understand a unique proudness.

Great reaction guys. Such a great movie. Saw this in the movie theaters in 1995...still cry with joy every time I watch James Cromwell dance for his pig. It definitely ranks high on the list of most inspirational moments in film.
If you want to see a VERY different, and younger James Cromwell, you guys should check out a really fun movie called, "Murder By Death" (1976). It is a spoof of old murder mysteries (like Agatha Christie, Sam Spade, The Thin Man mysteries, and Charlie Chan, etc.) with just an unbelievably good cast: Peter Sellers, Peter Falk, Alec Guiness, Maggie Smith, David Niven, Elsa Lanchester, Eileen Brennan, Nancy Walker, Truman Capote, and James Cromwell. It's still very funny even if you don't get all of the references to the old movies/books. And if you ever want to watch a really good actual murder mystery, I highly recommend the 1982 version of Agatha Christie's "Evil Under the Sun". A movie with another great cast:

Such a tear jerker movie. Ever since I saw this movie I wouldn't eat pork for a few years. After a few years I'd start eating, bacon, pancetta, and charcuterie very occasionally. A similar movie "CHARLOTTE'S WEB" is another animal story that's a tear jerker. Ironically, pigs are vicious creatures and will even kill and eat a human if hungry enough. Speaking about "living your whole life to be food" reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode " TO SERVE MAN".

another seriously under rated Australian film is Predestination (2014), it has a storyline i have never seen in another film or book, it is amazing!
this movie (Babe) was adapted from a book called Sheep-Pig by Dick King Smith, i read it in the 80s when i was about 8 years old, the sheep walking 2 by 2 was done with string keeping them in line if i remember the making of correctly....

To think that George Miller (the director of all 5 MAD MAX movies) had a hand in the making of this film as well! George Miller was the producer as well as co-screenwriter (Miller also directed the sequel BABE: PIG IN THE CITY). Such versatility!
Chris Noonan (the director of this film) received a Best Director Oscar nomination for this but lost to Mel Gibson for BRAVEHEART (Mel Gibson is an American citizen but grew up (and started his career) in Australia).
SIDE NOTE: Do not miss FURIOSA, which is my personal favorite of the MAD MAX series now thanks in large part to the storytelling style clicking with me so strongly.
