These are all part of their own canon and not the main series? As entertaining as they were, it kind of feels like Japan conned us out of the original continuity! LOL
Mobile Fighter G Gundam is my favorite and will always be just be I saw it when I was a little kid now 16 and never really fount another gundam show to take its place lol
+Zodiac K9 Build Fighters, especially Try seems to take a lot of cues from G-Gundam. Both G and BF seem to have plots that make robots fight one another for the sake of having fights, which is awesome. 'Nuff said.
+JealotGaming No, because I will argue that, it is not the best, it also is not the worst. One must remember that Stargazer exists, as well as Turn A being both UC and AU.
Great video. I'm currently binge watching all seasons of Gundam, so this really helps. Just one question: Since Turn A unites all universes, does it spoil other timelines? Should we watch all UC and AU before watching Turn A?
Shika SS Well essentially, Turn A connects all timelines which came before it, things like Seed and 00 are greylines. Also it doesn't really spoil much of anything, but I feel like it is a show you can enjoy more once you watch more other shows in UC and AU (well any before Seed since grey line). Think of Turn A as something that says "world war 2 happened" but won't go into detail about it, so you're fine. This also applies to Unicorn for UC, Unicorn alone is great, but it's an even greater experience watching the shows which came before it.
I've only seen two out of everything and that would be 00 and Wing. I'm probably not good enough to take on the Universal Century so I think I'll go to Seed next
Fair warning, first time on this channel and I did enjoy the video however you forgot to mention reconguista in g. Even though it's not well known it is in fact a Gundam series following the beginning of the reguild century
+Volkenstorm I get why you have the comment, but yah, I have G Reco in the UC video because it takes place in UC, a far very far future, just like Turn A.
+Daschle Bolisay Can you further explain this? Can you give a timeline for it like all other series do? Also keep in mind, you know what a spin off is right? Anything can be considered a series, like a series of spinoffs
***** I'm sorry fo the comment. my cousin signed in my account on his phone and he didn't tell me that he added a comment. He also Likes Gunpla And Gundams too. so he decided to add the comment. Sorry for the question and the time wasted. Thank you.
+Zeta Rise keep doing the good job, also I haven't seen AGE yet I have heard many negative things about it, also I think is an original premise the 3 generation thing.
Saul Reyes I think the main reason people didn't like it was because of the last arc. But in all honesty it was a solid show and the memory of Eden OVA made up for it.
I know these can be seen as stand alone shows, but looking at the sequence of events in both the UC timeline and the AU timelines, and the fact that Turn A essentially Canonizes the various AU timelines in the CC era, I don't thing the AU timelines can be considered true Alternate Universes at all, but rather they all take place on a single, unified timeline that spans thousands of years. with the timeline starting with Gundam 00 in the AD calendar and Reconguista in G at the latest point in the timeline as it is set 500 years after the events of Turn A. with all the other series taking place between the two. where they all fall I'm not entirely sure but I do know that the events of Gundam Wing, G Gundam and Turn A Gundam take place in that order near the end of the timeline just before Reconguista in G because at the end of endless waltz it is stated that mobile suits were never used for war from that point onward and in G Gundam, Gundams were used for a fighting tournament style sporting event to determine control the colonies as a means to prevent war, and in Turn A war, and for that matter Mobile Suits, were things nobody in the CC era had ever seen because it had been so peaceful for so long. I just need time to compile a concrete timeline.
Not all AU shows are confirmed within CC, only those which came out before it. So shows like Seed, 00 and such have no evidence of being part of the Correct Century. Also there is no real evidence that they do take place in a single linear timeline either. Reason being is that judging from the opening it could be considered that these universes collided due to some wild experiment and became one single universe. It could be similar to Marvel's Secret Wars (2015) where the multiverse died and all that was left was battleworld which was made up of the remnants of these universes. I know someone who is making a timeline for all Gundam titles, hopefully they'll make a video for it eventually when they get started, I'll be linking it sometime in some video in the future.
the only reason 00, Seed and others have no evidence in the CC era is because they were made AFTER Turn A.(the shows, not the mecha.) Had Turn A been made NOW then it stands to reason that they probably would have been included in the evidence already present in Turn A that we already have.
One can make that claim, but again as we both know, without evidence there is no clear answer. It is more generally accepted that the timelines before Turn A lead into it while others are their own parallel universes. It's something which isn't new in fiction either, I recall digimon working in a similar fashion when it comes to multiple universes.
+Zeta Rise I have proof that 00 is canon to the CC timeline and I have a placement for the UC era as well! At the beginning of Gundam Unicorn they make it a point to show the switch over to the UC calendar. They specifically say that they are switching over from the AD calendar we currently use to the Universal Century calendar. And the AD calendar we use now was the same used in 00! This evidence puts the UC era at a very early point in the timeline and also canonized the events of Gundam 00. How the events line up after the UC are still a bit up in the air and I require further proof for the rest of the series being on the same timeline but this is undeniable proof of the AD and UC eras happen immediately after one another.
...Inferno, I need you to take a take seat and read carefully. AD, stands for Anno Domini, and Anno Domini is the era we live in today. The current year in real life is 2016 AD. Before AD, it was BC/BCE, Before the Common Era. Unicorn was never referring to the AD of 00, because 00 is meant to represent a world more similar to our own, one where they didn't change their era. I read that you acknowledges that AD is our current timeline, but again it never provides real proof for connecting AD (00) and UC. I get it, it's fun to theorize things, but I don't think it's wise to make such a large stretch.
Personally I've always preferred the AU versus the UC. With the UC there's always an air of having to be committed to all the shows in the UC to fully enjoy it. Don't get me wrong I love the UC but I like how the shows in the AU are more stand alone.
SingleLeg the UC is pretty big but it's even larger than people think there's a lot of side stories which are pretty great and different from the normal like gundam missing link blue destiny
Personally I think the main UC timeline (Origin, 0079, Zeta, ZZ, CCA, and Unicorn) is the greatest story told in Gundam with some great side stories as well. (Thunderbolt, War in the Pocket, 8th MS Team and Stardust Memories).
After watching some of the UC I will say it certainly has the best story, feeling like a huge odyssey like Star Wars with the extended universe. However comparing UC to AU is more just preferance. I enjoy both but for different reasons.
I saw G Gundam and Gundam wing liked those. But my favorite has gotta be Gundam 00 was VERY into that when it aired. I missed the whole SEED/Destiny era. haven't watched any of the new alternate universes.
DEATHxTHExKIDx1 Firstly Gotta Agree with you 00 was awesome felt like a throw back to wing. secondly as for SEED....watch at your own risk. if your like me and watched the original first. Your gonna be going Gee this looks familiar, the first half of the series and wow theyre really shoving this protagonist down my throat the second half. And thats just SEED, Destiny....For me it started strong very strong. then about a 3rd of the way in it dropped and declined taking everything I didnt like about Seed and Making it even worse. again watch at your own risk
Because g gundam is here I feel like every country should get their own life size gundam statue from that show. America needs the surfing football boxer!
Hey Rise, I wanted to ask. Where does that clip of the God Gundam going after what looks like the RX-78-2's Core Fighter in the beginning of the video come from? You might said something about it in the video, but I probably missed it.
+Michael Greenberger Not really an inside joke, more like something we all got because the show kept shoving the whole "I want to understand you" "we need to understand eachother" on us.
As someone starting with the AU era of Gundam, i could understand your struggle. Like every series in that category had not only it's own "Canon" to start with, but their MS logic and artstyle greatly differ too. At my early days i could recognize the UC entries for their unique style, but jumping to SEED & 00 back then caught me off guard lol
Hey Rise, I'm curious, about the songs used in this video... yes they are Gundam Songs, but they sound like they're all a note or two higher, where did you find them?
To be honest, the opening ash like snow, the coalition forces vs celestial being wasn't as epic. Thought a massive battle overwhelming the gundams leaving boyh forces devastated. The gundams heavily damaged, and the coalition forces at a stand still. Then the thrones step in when the gundams are almost inoperable.
how did the war started the Zion and the earth Federation forces if I'm correctly saying it right ? and thank you for the information about gundam it is helping me to understand this anime a bit more
gundam the origin episode one explains it very good. basically leader of a colony assassinated, replaced by a oligarchy. Son of the new leader starts a war for independence against the entire federation. in order to "free people's souls from earth's gravity". Soon Zeon turn genocidal and drop a colony on Sydney, and gas opposing colonies. layman's terns, space nazi Germany declares independence from earth amd goes on a rampage.
max masterson Yes I have and already actually made some progress in notes for it, there are many things I will do eventually. Side Stories can be great when they give us more insight on the worlds they belong to, but then some drag on and matter nothing and shouldn't be continuing when they have nothing to tell, such as the Astray Series.
max masterson I do not, there is no official translation or fan translation. Although there isn't much of a need for it since it's just based on the game.
Hey Zeta, why don't you do some sort of origin on certain mobile suits in the SD games (preferably the ones in World and Overworld) since there are a few mobile suits that I am quite interested in and I would like to hear about their backstory (if given that is...)
Andrew Garcia though stargazer is pretty much the only really good thing from seed and there's also seed destiny the designs and battles can be good but often have reused animation plus the story line is a complete mess
Err... so Gundam Wing and its movie isn't connected to anything? Gotta admit, as much as I find connected stories fascinating as complicated the Gundam timeline is.
dat "UC>AU" at the end tho

do a video on gundam trends you know like how zeta started the mid season upgrade, dendrobium inspired meteor and gn arms, the gundam design that always revolve around normal-updated-firepower-funnel design, and the f91 MEPE inspired trans-am,char clones, the mentor always dies, etc
Awesome work bro..keep up..more pls
Wow, you actually put Frozen Teardrop in there :O
I CANNOT take that as cannon , it's just to bad.
Amazing guide, btw.
Can't wait for a Mobile Suit Vs Giant God of Legend: Gigantis's Counterattack video. =D
***** Oh yes, that Gigantis one may take a while, since I think it would be make more sense to have an ideon video out first. As well as since it hasn't been translated, I have to go on the information I can get which is actually almost enough.
I understand. You just make what videos you want =)
No rush.
I will probably watch the Ideon anime too, soon.
Dont worry Rise Im sharing this in forums.
i honestly hate the fact that i always hear about manga serries, but as someone living in the united states, i have no idea how to gain access to these manga.
The Internet!!
Steven Tarsitano try kissmanga.to
I don't think age doesn't look that bad it's a great anime
GSD remastered has he same count as the original GSD but they do get rid the recap episode and split the last episode in two, merging the latter half with the new canon TV special; Final Plus
Gundam for life!
two-mix - last impression.
I can't concentrate on your explanation due to the song. T_T but good job as always. :D
djemba Huh, it didn't seem that bad to me, but thanks for the input, I was going to use an instrumental version but it was a bit too weird sounding.
***** no, no, i mean it in a good way. cuz personally i got to know gundam first through endless waltz and bought a HG wing gundam and HG virsago as my first model kit. so, it bring so much memories.
djemba Ah I see.
These are all part of their own canon and not the main series? As entertaining as they were, it kind of feels like Japan conned us out of the original continuity! LOL
Can't believe I watched the whole Alternate Universe "Backwards".
'Nuff said.
Can you list the background music in your video, please?
Primus Productions Gundam Wing Endless Waltz OST - Last Impression
Stargazer OST - Hoshi no Tobira
Gundam 00 Movie OST - Final Mission ~ Quantum Burst
Let's not argue about the obvious here, 00 is the best AU show.
+JealotGaming No, because I will argue that, it is not the best, it also is not the worst. One must remember that Stargazer exists, as well as Turn A being both UC and AU.
Wing>00>>X>Stargazer>Seed>Destiny.
Of the ones I have seen.
+Zeta Rise Also KAPOOL! :D
New story for gundam wing👊🏿
frozen tear drop needs to be an anime
SEED (the first one) has a few similarities with the original UC timeline, so fans of the latter might enjoy the former
I've only seen two out of everything and that would be 00 and Wing. I'm probably not good enough to take on the Universal Century so I think I'll go to Seed next
loool that UC > AU plug at the end, loool
For me it's AU>UC
Doesn't mean I hate UC though. Zeta, Thunderbolt, and F91 are masterpieces
Fair warning, first time on this channel and I did enjoy the video however you forgot to mention reconguista in g. Even though it's not well known it is in fact a Gundam series following the beginning of the reguild century
+Volkenstorm I get why you have the comment, but yah, I have G Reco in the UC video because it takes place in UC, a far very far future, just like Turn A.
i loved age gundam
Actually, the Build Fighters isn't spin off. It is considered as a series of Gundam series. So it isn't a spin off.
K thanks, keep the good work currently watching Seed, which the only thing I find terrible is the stock animation and the repeated screams
that freedom thumnail made me clicked this
Celestial Being actually has five gundams
Exia
Dynames
Kryios
Virtue
Naadleh
Frozen teardrop came out in fucking 2010!!!??? Fucking hell I barely knew about it 3 years ago
By the way.rise, one of the episode in gundam:recognista in g.shows a strike dagger in the mobile suit musium
I love G Gundam (sorry if I’m a scrub lol)
I'll definitely check the out thanks
Personally I think the main UC timeline (Origin, 0079, Zeta, ZZ, CCA, and Unicorn) is the greatest story told in Gundam with some great side stories as well. (Thunderbolt, War in the Pocket, 8th MS Team and Stardust Memories).
After watching some of the UC I will say it certainly has the best story, feeling like a huge odyssey like Star Wars with the extended universe. However comparing UC to AU is more just preferance. I enjoy both but for different reasons.
I personally just see the UC as 3 (admittedly long) seasons of anime with a finale movie. I think that’s the best way to make Gundam seem digestible.
know what's sad, I hate seed but I love 00 being a UC fanboy
I saw G Gundam and Gundam wing liked those. But my favorite has gotta be Gundam 00 was VERY into that when it aired. I missed the whole SEED/Destiny era. haven't watched any of the new alternate universes.
DEATHxTHExKIDx1 I totally recommend to try watching the new one as it airs too.
Gundam 00 the best alternative timeline
Hey Rise, I wanted to ask. Where does that clip of the God Gundam going after what looks like the RX-78-2's Core Fighter in the beginning of the video come from? You might said something about it in the video, but I probably missed it.
Kaze it's the gundam 30th anniversary short
Doesn't wing have a manga called outpost ?
Zeta Rise, your voice reminds me of Tai, from Digimon.
A great video ! salut >!
5:11 "muh mutual understanding" Is there some inside joke with Gundam 00 fans that I'm missing?
+Michael Greenberger Not really an inside joke, more like something we all got because the show kept shoving the whole "I want to understand you" "we need to understand eachother" on us.
+Zeta Rise aw man. I was hoping it was some quote from the show or something
well it kinda was, just without the "muh" part.
I like the gundam series but man it is a pain to figure out the continuities so i love the alternate timeline series like 00
As someone starting with the AU era of Gundam, i could understand your struggle. Like every series in that category had not only it's own "Canon" to start with, but their MS logic and artstyle greatly differ too. At my early days i could recognize the UC entries for their unique style, but jumping to SEED & 00 back then caught me off guard lol
Ahhh, so Wing/Endless Waltz IS alternate universe.
Doesn't matter, it's still my favorite Gundam storyline, ever.
Zeta! What the heck is that clip of a remade Mobile Fighter G Gundam at 0:26?
+Amer Ghali It's not a remake, it's from the Gundam 30th anniversary
Hey Rise, I'm curious, about the songs used in this video... yes they are Gundam Songs, but they sound like they're all a note or two higher, where did you find them?
He probably changed the pitch for copyright reasons
They still sounded gorgeous.
This video is Last Impression, from Gundam Wing.
MekaniDragon For the Gundam Wing segment of the video.
Post notifications on 😂👌
To be honest, the opening ash like snow, the coalition forces vs celestial being wasn't as epic. Thought a massive battle overwhelming the gundams leaving boyh forces devastated. The gundams heavily damaged, and the coalition forces at a stand still. Then the thrones step in when the gundams are almost inoperable.
This might be because I didn't watch Destiny, but whats with all the hate towards SEED? I thought it was pretty good.
how did the war started the Zion and the earth Federation forces if I'm correctly saying it right ? and thank you for the information about gundam it is helping me to understand this anime a bit more
gundam the origin episode one explains it very good. basically leader of a colony assassinated, replaced by a oligarchy.
Watch The Origin and Unicorn and you'll have a good idea.
Hey, what's your opinion on the side stories? My favorite is blue destiny, but have you ever thought of making a video on it?
max masterson Yes I have and already actually made some progress in notes for it, there are many things I will do eventually. Side Stories can be great when they give us more insight on the worlds they belong to, but then some drag on and matter nothing and shouldn't be continuing when they have nothing to tell, such as the Astray Series.
***** Awesome, hey do you by any chance know where I can find Missing Link's manga?
max masterson I do not, there is no official translation or fan translation. Although there isn't much of a need for it since it's just based on the game.
***** Ok, Can't wait for the next video, and keep up the goodwork!
0:11 it is eva!!! lol
AGE felt like attack on Titan I don’t know why
IBO is AOT like the uniforms are the same...
Hey Zeta, why don't you do some sort of origin on certain mobile suits in the SD games (preferably the ones in World and Overworld) since there are a few mobile suits that I am quite interested in and I would like to hear about their backstory (if given that is...)
Piper 9080 Well the reason as to why I don't is simple, I haven't gotten to it yet. It'll come eventually like the Monoeye Gundam story.
*****
k might as well be patient about it. Keep up the good work with those videos. I'm starting to know a thing or two about gundam thanks to you.
Man, just the description of Stargazer makes me want to watch seed.
Andrew Garcia though stargazer is pretty much the only really good thing from seed and there's also seed destiny the designs and battles can be good but often have reused animation plus the story line is a complete mess
SEED itself is class but Destiny is a shitshow Stargazer is a great OVA though.
Where did you get the footage at the beginning of the video of everyone helping Amuro?
gundam x seams like it's set after uc timeline and G reco is after x
Err... so Gundam Wing and its movie isn't connected to anything?
Gotta admit, as much as I find connected stories fascinating as complicated the Gundam timeline is.
just curious, whats the title of the clip at the beginning of the vid where all the main gundams are fighting together?
What's the clip at the start of the video that showed all the main gundams fighting together
