That guitar solo is mind-blowing. First few notes and I swear it is the same as the intro to K.C. and the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight". Don't believe me? Check em' both out. Alex Lifeson is the best.
My favorite SONG off this album Cut to the chase and alien shore. My 2 favorite songs off this album. Good guitar work on both songs. Especially cut to the chase. I saw this tour twice. Great show both times. Love me some R U S H. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Wow, Alex is such a modest guitar player. Such tasteful riffs but not a note too much. And then this incredible solo pops up reminding you that this guy is just a virtuoso in hiding!
Lifeson's THE BEST. Not one of the best, THE BEST. He makes his solos fit the song, shredding when he needs to or keeping it slower and melodic as needed. But, the solos always evoke emotion within the listener. You can remember a Lifeson solo as opposed to one of those mindless speed demons like Malmsteen.
that lyrics is very drive train mechanic. so is Geddy's My Favorite Headache. "final drive" "Engine that drives its self" works even though this is Neil's lyrics.
Great song. From day one I thought it was about a sperm cell trying to reach the egg. Read the lyrics then think about it. Nearly every part of the lyrics applys to my theory. "You may be right it's all a waste of time. I guess that's just a chance I'm prepared to take. A danger I'm prepared to face." And the answer is "Things a sperm cell might say." You're welcome.
This one of Rushs' best songs ever. Compare this with anything coming out today. It still sounds modern. Could have been made last year (production-wise).
Criminally underrated song! The solo is one of Alex's best.
I'd say.. one of the best solos ever. It is my favorite solo.
Agreed -- and my fave on the album!
Liquid fire courtesy of Alex ! One his best solos ever
This whole album is criminally underrated, and this track is amazing
Cut to the chase and alien shore is my 2 favorite songs off this album
That guitar solo is absolutely nuts. Lerxst is killer!
Most underrated guitar solo ever, such a masterpiece !!
That guitar solo is mind-blowing. First few notes and I swear it is the same as the intro to K.C. and the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight". Don't believe me? Check em' both out. Alex Lifeson is the best.
Rip Neil Peart. I’m only 24 but grew up on their music. Legends
He gave Eric Johnson thanks for inspiring this solo. Love Rush!!
One of Alex's best solos at 2:40. Holy shit
Not to mention Geddy's stupid fast bass playing. You'd think he was playing flamenco at certain points on this album.
true!
That honor goes to the incomprehensible solo in Time and Motion.
Probably my favorite lyrics of any RUSH song. RIP Professor.
One of the best Rush rockers ... Explosive! 👍
I love it that Geddy is singing lower than on the other albums. One of my favorite, especially production wise ... killer!
One of Alex Lifeson's best solos and that bridge lyric when you are moving on from something wow
My favorite song from this album. I listen it on the bus on my way to job every day and I feel good, relaxed.
I too listen to this on the way to work I ride the train for half hour keep this on repeat
RIP Neil Peart. I picked this song to share on social media in memory of him -- it somehow felt fitting.
that solo is friggin amazing
The best band ever
The chorus of this song is part of my personal philosophy. Thank you Mr. Peart, for putting word to what I feel.
My favorite guitarist.
My favorite SONG off this album

This tour was incredible. They were at their peak.
Best song on the album
Wow, Alex is such a modest guitar player. Such tasteful riffs but not a note too much.

Peatman Not sure if your still around, but that was SO well said!!!!
Peatman you obviously A guitarist who got nowhere so don't put down Alex
Sam Barron He was praising Alex, not putting him down.
Downright shredder. I had a cat named shredder and it wasnt tmnt
Amazing song❤❤❤
Best bridges in rock music, ever. Sitting here listening on my stereo, sounds fucking AWESOME.
such a great song. PLease play this live rush
Thanks for posting these songs fromanother great album. Loved nearly every track on it.
yea he could do anything. Hes one of the best guitarists on this planet
Epic!
Thumbs up from cat bear!
Favorite rush song
Android2112 Simply awesome!!
he shreds alot in the 70s too.
2:44 Alex in La villa/freewill mode!
Attention!!! All Rock musicians. That is how to kick ass. Any questions? Of course not. Peace. Greg.
One great driving song
Best Rush workout song.

Lifeson!
2:40 kickass

All I can say is Indeed. He's under-rated just like Ric Emmitt.
YEAH!!!
cut to the chase and counterparts is most excellent !!!!!
some of you just gotta turn it up alot more !!!
Super guitar riff to go with bass
Reminds me of that scene on Family Guy with Chester Cheetah snorting Cheetos and listening to "Tom Sawyer" and breaking the glass table :)
Have not seen it. Probably a good thing!
A jazzy relationship song on Counterparts album.
Mission Headlong Flight continues. BTW,
Happy GEDDaY!
To be honest I never knew Alex good play like that. He’s more of a chordal style soloist. This really rips and the note choices are perfect
that lyrics is very drive train mechanic. so is Geddy's My Favorite Headache. "final drive" "Engine that drives its self" works even though this is Neil's lyrics.
The intro reminds me of A Legal Matter by The Who.
For me counterparts is the best album by Rush
1. a farewell to kings.
2. 2112.
3. hemispheres
4. moving pictures.
5 permanent waves
6 counterparts
47 and2, that would be about my ranking. Not to forget 'Caress of steel, though'
'Cut to the Chase' other bands!! Rush just called you out!!
play that funky music white boys

Funny guy
Ok yall did before the news!
I'm sorry, did someone just imply that anything form dream theater is worth listening to, let alone comparable or better than anything from rush?
liam morse
I like dream theater better than rush, but they’re both great
Dream Theater are surely less subtle than Rush, but they still have a lot of awesome songs - take Learning to Live or Trial of Tears for example.
liam morse nobody's talking about dream theater fuck face it's about rush fuck dream theater
Dream theater is nothing but a bunch of technical noise crap too technical
Fuck dream theater
Wow no real fans posting?
This one of Rushs' best songs ever. Compare this with anything coming out today. It still sounds modern. Could have been made last year (production-wise).
Both Lifeson and Ric Emmitt are so unrecognised is disheartening. Between those two guys is everyone else. Except for Satriani.......
Alex is getting his props these days but still underrated, I agree. and Rik Emmett is incredible. Two of the best
Yes, I'm glad you mentioned Satriani. In fact, Lifeson's solo here and there reminds me of Satriani. One on even par with the other for sure.
Allan Holdsworth would like a word with you....
