@@Ladybirdtaj - Just MHO, but it appears that she thinks fireworks = soulmate. Doesn't typically happen that way. He's a perfect match for her and she seems blinded by some romantic notion that doesn't exist. Even if it were to exist, it'd probably be short lived once the fireworks blew out. This guy's the real deal.

Exactly, yes, well said. It's called "masking." (I'm sure you already know that.) I'm autistic, and I act/react the way I know I'm "supposed to," but I'm pretty much always uncomfortable around other people. I'm so impressed with her for agreeing to a blind date. I couldn't have done that.

That is something someone does typically when people are more comfortable with each other, that made me uncomfortable just to watch and her reaction was understandable 😅
His parents are from two really weird cultures.
I think it was the fear of rejection, which made him do that unexpected thing. I think he tried to separate him self from the pack in order to make her see him more unique than the others. In the end her judgment is the final the one which counts.

I think men are more forgiving of autism in women than women are of dating an autistic man.
Likely because women with autism are better at masking and men are quite visual so if she's autistic they will look past the social shortcomings

Knowing a man has autism wouldn’t put me off of giving him a chance. I think people sometimes assume that if they’ve met a few autistic people, they’ve met them all. Like anyone else, they are all unique individuals.
I think that might be due to the fact that women are naturally more clingy, affectionate and like to be close while people on the spectrum really appreciate their independence and naturally express the same things differently while men are ok with being naturally more distant. I don`t know if I worded this correctly but that was my initial thought.

I don’t know which part I liked the most…Romeo’s rogue too-soon stranger scoop, ripping off false eyelashes to then burn at the table candle or leave in the water glass for the restaurant staff to deal with , orally assaulting the check presenter that is likely teeming with germs, or the shameless flex and pec reveal. Then her calling it really weird when she contributed to half of the weirdness. You can be a little goofy on a date but this was just…unusual and bad mannered.

Yeah, I think both of them did weird things. It wasn’t only him she was part of it. Either she was doing those crazing things to feel connected to him or she’s just like him. So if she was faking her crazy stuff then she isn’t comfortable with herself. Also, I notice he is a very deep thinker and in touch with his emotions and others. Maybe, his feelings were too strong for her.

I thought sharing the fact that she was diagnosed with autism (On the first date) this was not necessary as it was not evident in any shape or form at that stage, coupled with her licking the menu and then pulling off her lashes, were all signs that she was not going to take this relationship any further, I am convinced that if she was smitten with her date, these behaviours would not have materialised. She is a bit too goofy and at times talks too much without listening to her partner.
That’s a real shame…they could have been such a great couple!

This was one of the oddest First Dates I've ever watched! They're both oddballs in their own way. He is way too cocky - his picking her up right upon meeting was bizarre. I have to admit that I was entertained, and maybe that's all First Dates is about. I thought that she was warming up to him and was actually going to say Yes to a second date. (He obviously was into her.) But I was caught off guard when she just wanted to be "friends" - a smart choice by her but I thought that seeing all his big muscles was clouding her good judgement.

I do find it a little odd that she didn't want another date. However, I'm autistic, and I know how difficult/uncomfortable dating is with a neuro-divergence. If I like a guy, the idea of having to see him/impress him a second time causes me so much anxiety, I just can't do it. They seemed to have great chemistry, so I almost wonder if she said no to another date because she did like him a lot. Too much pressure.
