    Hi! I have been watching your youtube videos on nursing informatics. I’ve been at the bedside for 2 years and interested in transitioning to informatics. I know you’ve said you don’t need an advanced degree but do you know any recommendations for landing a job or any courses you’d recommend taking? I haven’t been getting interviews. Thanks! :)

      Hi! I’m assuming you at least have a BSN, if you do not then this is where you will want to start. If you do not want to go for your MSN in health informatics, I would try and find informatics works on your current unit. Ask your manager how you can get more involved, ask if you can lead any projects, and these types of things will show diversity on your resume. You could seek out possible certifications. Although I would try and get more involved on your unit, especially if there are any committees.

      @@DabidRobinson Hey yes I do have my BSN! I would want to get my masters in informatics but I wanted to see if I even really like it first - what pushed you to get your masters, were you already involved in informatics work on your unit? and ok I will seek these opportunities out and possibly look into certifications!

    What are the tips can u give in finding a mentor? How do you go about doing that? By the way great video keep the content coming 🤗

      Thanks for the support friend! Idk if you work in a hospital but what I did was just blindly email our informatics team and ask them if I could talk. From there I just kept messaging them and eventually asked them to shadow and let them know I was going into the program and would need a mentor.

    Hey David! A follow-up to your other comment... from your current standpoint do you think that you needed the 6 year experience to become an RN Clinical Support Analyst? (In a perfect world if the transition where smoother and easier)

      I work with people who got into this position with a BSN and less years of experience. I will say it’s very competitive to get in, so these things help but are not necessary. I’m happy with the amount of floor experience I have because I will look back at those for reference for years to come.

    Hi David. Is bedside nursing experience necessary to get into nursing informatics? If so how many years on average is good in your opinion? And I know you mentioned that with your BSN you can get into informatics as well. You don’t necessarily need your masters.

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  Год назад +1

      Yes that is right, you don’t need a masters but it helps. I’m going to be recording a video on things your should know when looking into nursing informatics this weekend. Keep and eye out for it and I’ll talk about the experience part

    Any thoughts about working in IT as an epic analyst? I see a lot of people talking about the role and transitioning from being an RN. I know it’s a bit of a stretch from informatics but I’m just curious if you have any insight!

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  Год назад +1

      I don’t think it’s too much if a stretch from informatics, as I am an analyst. I few like this is the first step for many informatics people and a good way to see if you like the work! I say you go for it!

    Currently looking for someone who could offer onsite preceptorship. I am taking MSN in Health Informatics at GCU. I have to finish a 200-hour onsite practicum with someone whose career is in the nursing informatics field and at least has a Masters in Nursing, preferably working in NJ or Upstate NY

    Do you know if you can get into informatics with less than a year of bedside?

    I have done my 'Doctor of pharmacy' from India!
    I am planning to do a "Masters in Health Informatics" in USA
    What are your thoughts?
    Is this a good career option for me?
