    Hi again Cindy & Ryan,
I’m going to show you Tori’s range. I don’t see any other way so a SuperThanks will have to do. In WOJB she showed off her Alto/Contralto range. In her most recent collaboration with UK Producer/musician/singer Dan Wesley she shows off the other end of her spectrum, Soprano. In my further description you’ll get the idea. The song is Suddenly, from the 1980 movie Xanadu. It was originally sung by Cliff Richard and Olivia Newton-John. I hope you are familiar with it, if not I strongly suggest checking the video of it. Tori as you will see here does a lot more covers and songs than just Carpenters. Although Karen is absolutely her idol. Her home studio is festooned with Carpenters memorabilia. She is also an avid collector, she used to have a video up of her collection, it was awesome. She primarily sings songs of the 60’s to 80’s with a few from the now, her originals and one Beatles tune, Now and Then. She recently entered the 50’s with a Patti Page cover of Tennessee Waltz. After I confirm this post has stuck, I’ll make a ST and refer to this post. Oh, there’s another thing in this video that she’s only done in her short videos. Dan is the heavy lifter on this one but Tori engineered any window she’s in. Enjoy!
    Joe

Tori and Jim do a great Burt Bacharach/Hal David Medley - the same one that the Carpenters did on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1970. Tori & Dan Wesley just released on YT a cover of Perry Como's "It's Impossible". There are other audio only YT performances by Tori (Georgia on My Mind, Merry Christmas, Darling and a few others) you may want to check out!

Hi and great reaction! I’m Joe a friend of Ron. I’ve been following Tori since last October and she’s just getting better and better. The collaboration with Jim for this is as you saw a masterpiece. I see some suggestions have been made and they are great ones. I’m going to give you a couple of her short videos that are on her channel for demonstration of some things.
A good example of a low is; I Need To Be In Love. She’s in the contralto range on some notes and you can feel it.
For a high; Have You Never Been Mellow. She goes way up there with Olivia on this. Karen never sang this high.
If you can go to the gram find on her channel (her name music) Silver Wheels/Crazy On You. It’s on RUclips too but even shorter. Guitar skillz. She’s 4 members of ❤.
For piano skillz, Now And Then by The Beatles.
That will keep you busy especially if you see all the other shorts. All the full length audio and videos are on RUclips only.
She is a rabbit hole in the making, one is better than the next but all are excellent. Great reaction and the shock and awe is over not, just enjoy!

You mentioned that you like new artists - well, checkout Lucy Thomas (from England) she appeared on 'The Voice Kids' 2018 at 14. Now in her early 20s on March 4th she had her first stage concert at The Stoller Hall in Manchester where he sang 17 songs. Available on YT are At Last, Hallelujah, Somewhere(from West Side Story), Unchained Melody & We Can Change the World (from the musical Rosie) from the concert. Over the years she has sung duets with her younger sister Martha (5 years younger). I believe in 2023 around Mother's day Lucy, Martha and Louise (mom) performed "Smile" melody composed by Charlie Chaplin in 1936, lyrics added in 1954 by Turner and Parson and released that same year by Nat King Cole.

This arrangement was very much how Richard arranged their backup vocals back in the day. He layered his and Karen's voices several times to make up the backup vocals. Tori has a beautiful voice and sounds very much like Karen in the upper register. Overall, she did very well. But as a Carpenters fan dating back to the 70s (yes, I'm that old 😊), to me, Karen's lower register is so full and distinctive and velvety. Again, this young lady is very talented, and this is a beautiful tribute to one of my favorite singers of all time.
    Thanks for your great reaction!

Me too! OG Carpenters fan. Bought Close To You in 1970 at 14. I liken Tori’s range like this. Karen is in “the basement” and Tori is on the first few steps down from the upper landing. Yet, she can soar way higher than Karen could. See her Never Been Mellow, Olivia cover, short video. I’ve seen her stick her toes into the Contralto range. Ebb Tide, I Need To Be In Live, dance there. She’s simply amazing. She can do justice to the songs we grew up with and her new ones are sublime. Close To You is her next Carp cover. Also I saw her live at the 55th Anniversary Concert in Downey. Have you seen her Studio Version of Something In Your Eyes, the Carpenter song that never was. She performed it at the 55th and wasn’t happy with the boomy church sound an recorded it again at home. It’s on her channel if you haven’t.

The Carpenters won't come after her; Richard came out to the church Karen and he attended, for the 55th Anniversary Celebration of Richard and Karen signing with A&M. Tori got to meet Richard because she was invited to sing there because of her extensive and incredibly accurate covers of Carpenters music. You know, Jim heard Tori sing on those covers and did his magic to put together this and an upcoming one. Before this, Tori put together scores of covers of other artists too. You were talking range? You should hear her Olivia Newton-John cover. As you know she had a different, higher range than Karen, and Tori does this by effecting a lighter, breathier timbre to her voice. What most people don't know by watching these is that she's a brilliant producer and engineer, having put together a home studio with multitrack hardware and software. She has a video demonstrating how the Carpenters overdubbed. Tori sings the parts into a TASCAM multitrack deck one at a time, then plays them all back at the same time. Another demonstration of her wizardry is her studio version of a song she sang at the 55th, which Karen was never able to sing, as she'd passed. Well, they recorded it at the church where they held the event, but the recording wasn't high-quality, so she redid it in her studio and overdubbed the voices herself. And she produced it all by herself. She's brilliant. By the way, the song is called, "Something in Your Eyes."

@@jbs256 Hi Joe! I kind of have to let people know about her recording knowledge because I spent my entire life reading and aspiring to do the same thing. My first degree is in music and I have an entire folder full of mostly unfinished songs, and I used to have a synthesizer. I subscribed to countless periodicals and bought many books on how to overcome issues with recording that have been mostly ameliorated by transitioning into digital production; crosstalk, headroom, and print-through among them. I plan to set up some equipment in my house when my renovation proceeds to that level: sequencer, keyboard controller, sounds box, reverb, mixing board, etc. It's all rather costly, and you really have to know what you're doing to make it work. Tori's singing is so beautiful that it overshadows her brilliance in having done all the things I WANT to do, and I know WHAT is involved. So, essentially, I admire her tremendously. Put on top of that that she is a sweet, humble person; and it's impossible not to be gobsmacked about what she's accomplished.

@@christopheryochum3602 so very true. I come from the cinema side, my degree from USC Cinema/TV Production. Had a run in the early 80’s and morphed into IT with a lot of industry clients. So I helped them write and produce shows. Then actual software companies and IT departments. Still always think in Cinematic terms. I see that in Tori, her eye is cinematic or editor depending what she’s doing. Oh one thing, Richard only came on Saturday for the big reveal. Correction....Richard did not come to the church Karen and he attended (Downey United Methodist Church) for the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. This was the evening of the Acoustic Concert which was held at the Downey United Methodist Church on April 25 and several Carpenters tributes were invited to perform a few songs each. I would know because we were there and we were one of the acts (Carpenters Legacy from Las Vegas.) We also participated in the Carpenters 50th Anniversary Celebration in April 2019. Richard attended the panel discussion on the evening of April 27 which was the culminating event of the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. Tori and everyone else who attended the event got to meet him that night and many had photo ops with him. We (Carpenters Legacy) had the unique privilege of performing our full production show at the Downey Theatre on April 24 (to a sold out audience) to kick off the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. We also had the rare opportunity to have a private meeting with Richard at his Yesteday Once More classic car collection warehouse earlier that week and he spent over two hours with us. It was a very special day. We have several videos from our meeting with Richard on our RUclips channel.😊
