It was really a dumb counter offer against cuban. He literally just made same offer as cuban just 5 grand more. In reality, 5 grand is nothing for those sharks. In a partnership like this it is redundant for that type of money to have a meaning, because the action of injecting the company with money separate from the initial offer is to be expected. They wont let a company where they invest in die just because they are short 15k. They will definitely help them out as long as they are putting in the work.

Sir Richard made a fortune trying to sell fun. He was probably the right partner for this young man.
Branson never answered the boys question directly! He never said one thing about strategy, he just had some emotional story about seeing himself in the boy! Marc Cuban actually seemed genuinely interested in the product, it was a much better deal. The extra $5,000 is totally not worth it!

You also have to consider that we’re seeing an extremely edited and condensed version of a pitch which sharks have stated last anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours. They may have decided to include the emotional story over the nuances of business strategy because their goal is views, my dude.

I think it's for the square shape. Each pitch to them is an hour long and we see about 15 to 20 minutes if we watch the show and then whatever gets cut to here on youtube so he probably told them exactly what was patented and they probably got both products.
