Finally I hear someone talks about life jacket! It hardly mentioned in any youtube video but it is super important. It's more important than any gear! Thank you!
For me personally a wading belt is necessary. A buddy of mine fell into a deep hole while trout fishing and the belt helped keep the water from filling all the way through the waders. Be safe guys!
Good video. I bought the Forever last G2 belt. I love it. Look into it. It comes with a decent set of pliers, rod holder, stringer with float, good back support, and a small tackle box. For measuring, I bought the stick on rulers that go on the rod. Clean the rod with alcohol and lay it on nice and smooth and it will last a good long time on there.
Very informative. Really good stuff. I live in Freeport Texas and have been serious offshore fishing since I could walk. I am out almost every weekend during the summer. I also of course do a lot of bull red fishing catch gafftop as well. Basically I have done a whole lot of almost every type of fishing including camped out catching catfish. Lol recently however at 46 I have developed and almost obsession with Wade fishing and kayak fishing, .... as well as bow hunting but that's a different article. Recently my brother-in-law gave me a Shimano curado 200dhsv on a pro series castaway 7ft rod. I am big guy and pretty active so the 7-foot is great for me. He also gave me some cut-rate fishing tackle pro series rods with Shimano Stratic spinning reels on them. But I am a baitcaster kind of guy. He also gave me a pair of Simms Gore-Tex waders, (he says are high end- good ones), several floating nets, floating nuts to put your catch in, another pair of insulated waders, 4 totes filled with saltwater assassins and every weight of jig head, along with many popping corks, croaker hooks, top Waters, and every kind of tackle you can think of. He also gave me a kiwi pontoon kayak, anti flatsmasterthing with what looks like a center console you can sit on and it is a platform you can stand on and fish. Like a kayak that you stand up on. I won't get into the filson jacket, welding machine, compound bow, propane generator, turkey fryer, four propane bottles, very high-end darts and dart board, I did not know there was such a thing, a five foot by 8 foot utility trailer with liftgate, and a bunch of other stuff with details. Offshore is great but my boat uses a lot of gas. And it can get expensive when you don't have a bunch of people to chip in.plus white fishing just seems really peaceful for the most part to me. I have not been yet,but I'm just letting you know that I really enjoyed your channel, and it has inspired me to try to get out there quicker. It is also reminding me of a bunch of stuff that I need to take with me. So keep putting these out,and if you are ever around Freeport Texas, you can take me and show me the ins-and-outs of Wade fishing and I'll take you off shore. LOL
great video👍👍, btw I'm new to fishing but found a measuring tape that can stick to rod and comes with trout red flounder stickers, I put it on my rod and it helps me a lot, Ive seen them at bass pro and other tackle shops
where does the beer go? have you seen the floating wade stations? it's like a mini floating cooler with pontoons that holds your extra rod extra stuff. I've seen them with full-blown bait stations. that's cool you got the JB bag. I saw those guys Friday night at a meet and greet in Fort Worth. I asked them if they were ready to do some saltwater fishing. they said they're ready to do everything. you should reach out to those guys and put them on the big fatty Reds and you need to do it before it gets too hot. that fresh Yankee meat will burn in the Texas sun.
Don't forget if you are keeping fish on a stringer while wading make sure to have an extra long stringer incase sharks try to take your fish it happens and you want it as far from you as possible
I paused the video and ordered a US Coast Guard/Transport Canada approved pfd. The last time I went out I had a good scare and after watching this I decided to just bite the bullet and get one.
You have the best fishing channel by far!! Great information and most of your subscribers have good knowledge to pass on as well. Does Cora have interest (or time) hosting an occasional surprise episode? Ya know, from her perspective, likes/ dislikes, techniques, equipment etc? I think a surprise episode of "Cora's Comments" would be cool. Feel free to use that if you like ;-)
Great video. I have done some wade fishing but just in shorts and water shoes. I need to use waders cause it just seems safer and like you said I would be dry when I get out of the water. Where did you buy the waders? Are those just Academy ?
You don't use ray guards. I won't go wade without them now. All these people have been getting hit and the wound has been getting infected. Anyways great vids man!
shuffle your feet, don't step, and you are more than likely not going to get hit. But yeah not having to worry at all about getting stabbed would be nice
A surf fishing bag is good for holding gear. Some of them (Like the supreme surf which I use for surf fishing up here in the N.E www.jandh.com/supreme-surf-bags.html) Have removable lure slots, So you'll be able to pull the plastic slots out and put in tackle boxes and w/e extras you like. Plus they're small and go over your shoulder and have good drainage in the bottom. You may have covered this already but a solid belt around your waders is a must(If you fall less of a chance water won't fill up inside.) I like old army surplus canteen belts cause they are stiff and if I need to hook something on they have plenty of room. Very good vid I am a new sub and I love tips vids! Any new info I can add to my arsenal is always good! :)
Fishermen have drowned wade fishing with waders particularly. When the water filled the waders they struggled and drowned. Life jackets would have prevented their drownings.
at first they pull you down, but once they fill they are no harder to swim in then regular clothes. Most of the time its because people panic I've heard. It's always sad hearing about it

Its going to be a fun series to follow. Can't wait!
i agree

Great episode, can't wait for the wade fishing clips.
Great overview and love the dog!
Thanks!
Another good, insightful video - thanks Texas Redfish Hunter

Hey Drew thanks for the video man! I'm new to wade fishing in the Texas City area and your videos are EXTREMELY helpful.
Great intro for all of us.
awesome video, I've never been wade fishing but really want to start, i look forward to the videos
small plastic buoy on lip gripper or pliers are a must or have them on a leash , sucks when you loose something wading in the marsh lol
Very informative video! Thank you so much for making this video, you've got a new subscriber
Anything that says Simms on it should be fine. For sandy bottom in salt water, you don't want felt -- sticky rubber is good.
great video👍👍, btw I'm new to fishing but found a measuring tape that can stick to rod and comes with trout red flounder stickers, I put it on my rod and it helps me a lot, Ive seen them at bass pro and other tackle shops

Maybe I will, thanks for watching

Thanks for the tips
What brand cap do you recommend that has the GoPro mount? I notice the camo cap you use.
Action Hat!!

Great Tips man!!!
Thanks for the lesson!
Cool vid man Fìsh on tight lines
Will wade fish new to area.Keep the video coming.will watch for more.
X2, clippers are good to have
Great to see yall do a wade fishing session. Besides shuffling your feet, will those Foreverlast Rayguards be effective? Thx for sharing
I've never used em, but probably pretty good
love your dog !
me too!
A line cutterz ring is good to have wading or yaking
Great video. I have done some wade fishing but just in shorts and water shoes. I need to use waders cause it just seems safer and like you said I would be dry when I get out of the water. Where did you buy the waders? Are those just Academy ?
Mine are Frogg Toggs, Cora's are from Academy, Academy definitely cheaper
Where did you get the American Flag paddle it is awesome?
Great tips! What kind and size line you prefer to use while wade fishing?
I like braid or mono. I mostly throw braid with a flourocarbon leader, lighter line with trout (like 15-20) or just straight 12 lb mono
Do you also like ttf Texas tackle factory
What boots did you go with?
Do you still recommend the 13 fishing reels. Do you still like them

I’m still confused about the life jacket when I’m wade fishing I’m not worried about falling in a hole at least where I’m wade fishing
Fishermen have drowned wade fishing with waders particularly. When the water filled the waders they struggled and drowned. Life jackets would have prevented their drownings.
Hopefully moving back to God’s country in the next couple of months. Can’t wait to get back to fishing the coastal bend.
You use that medium light for your topwaters as well?
yup, for wading I do
I wade fish In Sargent the water is pure brown
Those redfish paddles 😬
what's the pound test line so you use on that med light casting rod
30 lb braid
where did you get that bag cause I can't find one online
ap merchandise . com i think has it
I don't wear waders during the summer
I just like not being wet when I get off the water for driving, and that's why I got breathable. But yeah you don't really need them in warm water
Is there any wading boots you recommend ?
See Simms comment above
stringer if you keep your fish
I mentioned that quickly when I talked about the floating measuring stick
You mind giving a link to where I can get that bag?
apmerchandise.com
I use this backpack when I wade (keep it lightweight). It has rod holders on each side of the shoulder straps. very handy. www.fishnpack.com/
I bought a Texas Edition Concept. Where can I buy a Red Tail Rod?
redtailrepublic.com, use my discount code RedhunterTX or find them at a show, they will be at the houston fishing show this weekend
Texas Redfish Hunter cool! Thanks! Do you have any recommendations?
Where is the location of this show?
fish all along the Texas Coast, live in the Galveston area
Texas Redfish Hunter not your show, the fishing show where Redtail is gonna be.
try to get a rod ruler
Why do the wade fishermen drown so frequently? Does wearing waders make you sink like a stone or what?
at first they pull you down, but once they fill they are no harder to swim in then regular clothes. Most of the time its because people panic I've heard. It's always sad hearing about it
+Texas Redfish Hunter
That is sad. Thanks for the info brother
Well I watched thresher channel like you said.........I'll stick to watching you and Cora didn't like his at all
apmerchandise.com for bag is what I could find
www.fishnpack.com/ check em out.
