@@BamaSaltwater I agree. Can't wait unit I can move to Florida full time. I'm ready to be on the water full time. Like you I share a military background. I have family in Alabama and I've done some contract training in Anniston. Any hoot. Great vid. Thanks for sharing with us.
a flyfishing tip that i take to traditional fishing, specially if I'm doing catch and release is to crush the barb... it makes the de-hooking much easier for everybody the fisherman and the fish. Just my 2 cents, and yes if you where wondering its still a very secure set and rarely the fish get unhooked.
I absolutely love this video. Some of us don't have a boat. Some of us spent a lot of time fishing without a boat. I know I did Great look into your way of catching inshore fish from the bank.
This is my kind of fishing. So peaceful out there. We got some nice fat trout hanging around the grass beds before sunrise, down here in Baffin Bay, Texas. They will make your drag scream. Love your videos, broski. Cheers from S. Texas.
Thanks for your great videos and would love to see you come and fish Choctawhatchee bay. I'm trying to catch speckled trout, but I keep getting skunked every time. You are doing so much better than I am. God Bless and Thanks for making great fishing videos.
Great video you never know what going to come around the shallows.. Quick story I was fishing overnight on the beach in moriches inlet I had weiders on and I was standing where the waves broke on the sand the water at best would climb half way up my shin.. 3am its pitch black a rouge wave crashes far over my head it hit me hard to this day I feel like it might of been carrying a log, thats what it felt like and by the grace of God I managed to stay on my feet and it wasn't easy but you can imagine what that would of been like no one would of seen me and the weiders would of immediately filled and sank me in fairly heavy water.. Cheers
I fished the banks in Venice Louisiana this morning using just a popping cork a jighead and some shrimp caught 2 legal flounder, 13 reds that were too small to keep and some bait fish that we kept for future trips
During the holidays i went wading in the baltic sea and tried to catch flounder ( without success) but this video reminded me of the great time i spent with my grandparents .I really appreciate this content!
Hey I’m a long time viewer I remember when you got in trouble by coast guards I watched it when it was seven hours ago. When you caught that lizard fish you said they have teeth and might need braid. But fun fact I was jigging in Manteo NC. Lizard fish can’t bite through 5 pound test. But yes lizard are kinda creepy and have teeth. So when I found out I was jigging off a dock with a half ounce red eye jig head and curly tail white jig but I’m only ten so I was kinda mad cause I was fishing for trout , red fish , Flounder and black drum. And so these lizard fish got me mad cause where flounder was the was a school of lizard fish. But that same day caught a nice red off that same dock so kinda can’t complain. Thank you mr.Steven for your service.
Thanks so much! Learned something new about mono. It has been great watching the channel grow from when I first found you when you had less than 5k subs. Keep up the great content.
Nice catches there. I just heard we here in NC just had a record breaking speckled trout caught. If I read it correctly, it was a hair over 33 inches. Also, I would like to say I'm glad you caught that needle fish and explained it. I was fishing the ICW here in NC last month and kept getting bait popped by some of those. Couldn't get one hooked, but I barely saw it and thought, "A gar out here?"
Nice video man! also do a bluefish catch and cook i can give you my great grandmothers bluefish stew recipe (can also use any type of porgy like sheepshead or triggerfish)

Optional: when it's done you can broil the top of fish if you want the top to be crispier this is the way I was told the recipe it was not written but i asked my mother and grandmother and they both described it this way. maybe i got somethings wrong I'm not good with writing recipes lol. I call it the long island stew because we got 4 things: Porgy's Bluefish Flukes and old Bay lol. well, if you do make it i hope you like it man! Thank you, lord, for everything.
Hi Mr. Bama Saltwater, quick question, do you know if it’s flounder season in Alabama? Here in NC it is but just wondering if it’s a year round season or just a small month wide season like NC. Google is giving me different answers left and right.
Thanks for all the help. I just moved to the area and caught my first ever Spanish mackerel on the gulf state pier using the exact setup you showed in a previous video (med-heavy rod , 4000 size reel, heavy mono leader, gotcha plug). I’m taking notes, you better look out or you won’t have any fishing spots to yourself!
Would you be willing to give us a full tour of your boat? Rough idea of price you paid for it as well? I think your size of vessel would be great for me to start with just need that more detailed info if possible
Heading to Fort Morgan at the end of the month, would you suggest surf or across the road at bon secour to do some fishing…I don’t have a surf rod, would be using inshore setup and artificials….thanks and really enjoy the videos! God Bless!
Great stuff, love your videos! Wish I could fish saltwater all the time unfortunately Im a bit far from the ocean but at least can watch your videos haha
Even an oral surgeon would have had trouble with that needle fish !! You need to get some sun on those feet ;-) As usual, a very well done video. Thank you !!!
You've got a fan/subscriber from clear across the country up here in Washington State. I lived down in Florida for 18 mths (Jr. High) in late 60's when my Dad got assigned to work on the Apollo Space Program. I remember fondly fishing the Indian and Orange for many/most of the fish you are catching. If I wasn't in school I was out in our little 12 footer fishing. You bring back some awesome memories of those younger years. One question; I remember having to worry about wading barefoot because of Stingrays, is that not a problem where you were?
That's awesome! Welcome to the Channel. Yes, we have a lot of stingrays, I just shuffle my feet and really walk slowly to let them scurry away *in theory*
Curious as to to what knots you use going from braid to your leader and on the lures/hooks themselves? I’m struggling getting a good knot from my braid to flouro leaders.
Can I pick up a large T-shirt at hooked up bait while I'm down this weekend. Don't want to pay shipping lol! Love the videos thanks for the hard work to make it happen!
I tried a baitcaster one time, by the time I cleaned up the resulting bird's nest I lost interest! Maybe you should do a video on how to cast one of those dang things LOL.
Hi Stephen! great video as always! I was wondering how that squall performed since there's not many videos reviewing it, much less in action. Been really wanting to pick one up for myself since I have lots of saltwater around me and I loooove the baitcaster feel!
I asked a question on an older video but you may have missed it. I saw a Jones and Frank van on that video and asked who works for them. I worked for another equipment company and I'm very familiar with that company.
I may do a video later, but best way in my opinion. 1: Tie your lure/leader/etc on the end. 2: Turn off/to zero all of your Magnetic brakes (or set your centrifugal brakes about half) 3: Press spool release and drop lure down with your thumb OFF of the line 4: It needs to fall down smoothly and once the lure it's the ground, your spool shouldn't backlash. 5. If it backlashes, tighten your spool tension knob. If it's too tight, loosen until it falls down smoothly. If it falls down smoothly and doesn't backlash, your spool tension is good. 6. Repeat if spool tension is not good. If spool tension is good, turn magnetic brake knob to about 4 or 5 (you can increase it if it's windy) and you should be good to go. 7. MOST IMPORTANT: Practice and be ready with scissors to cut out bad backlashes and PRACTICE some more . Good luck!
You can use anything for bass. I've had them strike at my bobber at times I was using one. Caught decent bass while crappie jigging. One of the state record bass here was caught by a man crappie fishing
