Sartorius GD503 is Legal for Trade (LFT) in carats and grams. To use the GD503 in other weigh modes like grains for ammo reloaders or milligrams for laboratory weighing application you need to take the GD503 out of LFT. You need to have everything out of the weighing chamber and turn the balance upside down, open the access door and move the switch. The switch is very hard to see since the switch is black in color. You slide the switch and this video shows how to do this.
To change the weigh mode all of the weighing codes can be found at balance.balance... In the blue and gray line table you will see (Menu code 1.7.1) for grams or (Menu code 1.7.11) for grains. The primary mode will be 1.7.X
For the secondary weigh mode it will be 3.1.X So to set the secondary mode to milligrams the web page shows (Menu code 1.7.13) and you just enter 3.1.13 instead since you want to change the second weigh mode.
Sartorius balances you toggle between two different weigh mode and you just need to configure the GD503. For ammo people wanting grains and grans the setting would be 1.7.11 and 3.1.1
A laboratory would want grams and milligrams so the setting would be 1.7.1 and 3.1.13
A jeweler wanting carats and grams the setting is 1.7.4 and 3.1.1
The Sartorius GD503 has been discontinued and the replacement is the Sartorius Entris64-1S and these are available at balance.balance... or scaleman.com/sa... The Sartorius Entris64-1S is NOT legal for trade.
