Hearing this song brought back lots of memories from my grammar school days. The year 1963. Reminds me of a girl named Chris Marusarz who I liked very much at that time. Don't think she ever realized it! We use to hang out at Archer Park in Chicago. Hearing this song once more brought back good memories of those days and times. RIP Leslie Gore, your songs back then meant a lot to us teenage kids!
@@wallaceraymond2211 What a hate ftlled, nasty little maggot you turned out to be. I bet your mother is soo proud of you, NOT. Lesley gave pleasure to the world with her singing, and all you can bring up is you crazy ideas of what her private life was like. You really are a very, very sick minded little grub.
Fantastic production & a great song from the fall of '63, in America's last minutes of innocence. On 11/22/63, this, & the entire Top 40 stopped & when it came back all was changed. We--America--were sadly, never the same. Wolfsky9, 67 y/o
I agree wolfsky this great nation has NEVER OR WILL EVER be the same since that terrible day. Oh by the way no rock'n roll was played nationwide for FOUR SOLID DAYS.during President Kennedy's mourning.
Digi Rob boy you listen to it that many times it eventually wore out the threads on the record so the needle couldnt follow anymore in the groove cuz it be no grooves life. That's a devoted listener are you are
I was privileged to haveinterviewd Ms. Gore while a DJ at WXNJ FM, Avalon, New Jersey in 1992. A class act and welcoming spirit. Rest In Peace, and I am sorry to learn you are gone so soon.
Lovely lady, and kind. A really nice voice for easy listening. Miss her. She could have gone on for many more years entertaining us all. Miss her voice now. May she sing in paradise w/ the angels.......
not really.. Miss gore sang songs that spoke to a lot of girls of that era.. Stolen boyfriends, Cheating boyfriends, hometown guys etc... where's the drama in that? The Shangri las were more melodramatic than Miss Gore ever could be !
Rest in heavenly peace, Ms. Gore. I just got into your music and suddenly you're gone. You have so many fans who loved and still love you and your music!
On this day in 1963 {October 13th} Lesley Gore performed "She's A Fool" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'. One month earlier on September 28th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #3 & spent 15 weeks on the Top 100. It was the third of four straight records by her to make the Top 10; first was "It's My Party" {#1 for 2 weeks in 1963}, followed by "Judy's Turn To Cry" {#5 in 1963}, then this one, and finally "You Don't Own Me" {#2 for 3 weeks in 1964}.
She made the 1960's even more special for me Hearing all her great songs as a kid In my mind she is the greatest female singer ever I still remember renting a bike as a 8 year old for The Wildwood NJ boardwalk and hearing Sunshine Lolipops and rainbows on the boards As I rode it in august 1965
RI.P to the best girl singer EVER! She pu out hit after hit and just made m day. As a child of the 60's this was my balm for a bad day. Thank you Lesley for the music.
RIP Leslie Gore. So glad I had the pleasure to see you perform in person. You will be missed. Thank you for bringing such great songs for all to listen and grow up on
I still remember hearing this song on the WBZ Boston top 30 countdown show on Sunday November 3, l963. Lesley is amazing and she looks even better today than she did as a teenager.

I also loved Lesley and Shelly but for different reasons. Although Shelly released recordings as well, Shelly did not have the vocal chops that Lesley had.
Though not all Top Ten, Leslie recorded many catchy and memorable songs. Her recordings were each nuggets of gold, regardless of sales or ratings. And she had one of the most quoted song titles in pop music history -- How many times have you heard folks use the phrase, "It's My Party" when wishing to express their desire to go their own way. BTW, I loved "Out Here On My Own" which she co-wrote with her brother, and which was given an excellent delivery by Irene Cara. R.I.P., Pop Princess, and know that many of us are still listening. 10/2020
Saw Lesley Gore (2) times at the Detroit Fox Theater and she sang her songs there as good as this recording! Excellent singer with a strong voice! Tony Trotta
Five years ago today (Feb 16, 2015), we lost Lesley to lung cancer. It brings tears to my eyes to think that she is gone. She was an important part of the 60's and my life. Sometimes it seems like she was never truly appreciated for her talent and the songs that she chose to sing. Such a beautiful New Jersey girl. She is missed and appreciated for her talent. I still listen to her songs and know that millions of people, like me, still do the same. To her partner of 30 years, Lois, my sincere condolences. Lesley is still with us in song and memory.
I agree. Her songs meant a lot to us teenagers growing up in the early to late 1960's. I was shocked to hear of her death in 2015. RIP Leslie Gore you were one of a kind !
How can it be that Lesley Gore is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Isn't it time for her to be honored with that?

pop singer!
It's ALL rock n roll.

In 1963 - 1965, Lesley Gore was a one-woman girl group. On her recordings, she not only sang lead, but sang the harmonizing background vocals as well.
Really interesting
she did all the clapping too
