Gary lends a ton of cred to Larry as far as the next generation because Payton is respected as one of the greatest defensive players of all time. He is that bridge between the old and new that is letting these young guys know that Larry was the real deal

Just one point everyone, what other NBA player in the history of the NBA has made this big of an impact on so many Hall of Fame players that remember him. Love these videos, this should say it all, when the basketball greats telling these folks just how unstoppable Larry really was in his day. One of my Favs is Eddie Johnson’s, he wasn’t in this one but the way Eddie tells it is hilarious. Eddie was on the Suns when Larry drains 3 and says I told ya so. Eddie was also on Hawks Bench getting fined for reacting to Larry’s unconscious 60.

The only reason I can think of when people question if hes still top ten is they havent seen him play. But, like it or not, there may be some darker reason. Or, maybe their cognitive function is running on fumes.
A little back story between bird and Kent Benson. Benson was at Indiana when bird went there before he went to Indiana state and he was a dick to bird. When McHale broke the Celtics scoring record Benson was guarding him most of the time and bird made sure he kept getting the ball on Benson to embarrass him

Speaking of Dee Brown, those Cs teams of the early 90s were pretty bad but I did love Dino Radja...He was my fav after Larry left. The Cs got robbed losing Len Bias and Reggie Lewis. I think that they would have got another ring if those guys didn't pass away
