Throughout Bird’s career he has been a team player. He might have been the best player on a team but he understood team play. Benson was a bully who couldn’t back up his crap. I Wish 'Prime Larry Bird' would Stop acting like Kent Benson was the Reason He Left. That Was Just a Plus for leaving BUT Not the Real reason He left. He leaves Out the Part, Where Larry Said "It Was Because I Didn't Have The Funds To Stay There". Bird Would have Never let a Senior Bully Stop Him from Playing There. Even Bobby Knight Knew it was Over Fund's that was the Reason. Back Then You Didn't Get Paid To Go To Their Collage, Not A Freshman Anyway. If He Knew Someone There To Help Get Him A Job, I Think He Would Have Stayed. He Wasn't Going To ask His Family OR Friends from Back Home To Support Him. Because He Knew They Didn't Have That Kind Of Money Either. If He Could have Found a Job, That He could have Worked Around His Practice & Games, He Would Have Stayed.

I think Larry took advantage of the fact that he was slower and couldn’t jump as high. The other team got down court faster but he could see their set up. Someone could jump higher but when their feet left the floor they had little control of their body while Larry still had his feet on the floor and complete control of his body. He could fake out the other team because he was a great shooter and a great passer. He was a great leader because he made sure his teammates had time with the ball and scored. The defense didn’t know what Larry was going to do but his teammates seemed always ready for what he could do. Just because he could make a shot didn’t mean he wasn’t going to pass the ball to you.

I just watched a video of Cooper being told that Larry said he was the BEST defender he ever went against.. That's some props to Cooper.. because Larry could be doubled teamed and still make them look stupid. And all sports Today.. trying to be nice.. but today's sports.. everyone of them are never to the level of back in the day.. Bill Walton was one of the most dominant college centers of all time. He averaged 20 pts and 15 boards and shot 65% for his college career . UCLA was 73-0 for Bills first 3 years in College winning 3 national championships . Bills college run finished at 86-4 with all 4 of his college losses coming in his SR year. He was drafted number 1 by the Trailblazers where he went on to win his first NBA ring leading the team with a MVP season. If not for injuries Walton would have def won more with Portland. What happened to Bill in the NBA was just sad. He literally had 6 years worth of injuries before becoming a good 6th man with the Cs

In the late 80s I was in the cub scouts, We got to go to a Cs game as a group one year. I remember during shoot around before the game Kevin Gamble clanged one off the front of the rim. You could hear Larry say to him "Kevin that rim is big enough for 2 balls to go through, You shouldn't be touching the rim" hahaha Even as a 9 year old kid I thought that was funny as hell...but it gives you an idea of his mindset about shooting and you understand why most of his jumpers were all net
