    It was so nice to see this old vid of you guys and see how your gear has changed over the years. 😊

    Hey Justin & Bec, you filmed this 3 years ago... would you consider doing this again so we could see what your top gear to use now is after all your travelling? Thanks, Laura

    Same Same but use 250mm Galv coach bolts with a big galv washer for all tie downs , got some huge 3 stage water filters that are rated at 12 months each , horribly expensive but I run the tank water in through them and also park tap water as well so good water at all times.

    Thanks for the tips, one thing we do if we camp near a freshwater river is that we pump from the river using the 12 volt pump, we use the water for showering and washing.

      What a great idea. Do you need to filter the water?

    • @briananddianehardy8598
      @briananddianehardy8598 6 лет назад +1

      Trip In A Van, Yes we filter it, the pump has a gauze filter on it, then we use a BEST filter before we use it, we do sometimes boil the water for coffee as well.

    One thing I would add is a magic grip universal socket. Since you have the drill anyway it’s great for loads of things but you will love it for driving in those tent pegs into hard ground

    I use a specially built light weight locker under van. So easy to figure 8 sullage hose into. No smells in the boot from the dirty waste hose

      Raymond Richardson I flush my waste hose every packup so it never smells👌

      @@TripInAVan
      Love your content. I bought a Starter Pack from a well known retail chain. I knew the 10m fresh water hose included was not for potable water unless you like the taste of plasticisers. I bought an Australian made potable water for hose with preassembled PVC fittings.
      I will likely swap over to the brass fittings that come with the starter kit and put it aside for when I rarely need to extend by another 10m, being careful to flush the tainted water out of the hose after use. Our van has 2x62l potable water tanks with pump.
      I am sitting down thus afternoon to work out how to set the valves to maybe use hose water for shower and "our" water for sinks. May need some check valves and extra 1/4 turn valves to achieve what I want.
      No rush, this is our first long trip, 5000km all up probably, over about 3 months.
      I had to cart water in a 20l container, from a tap 75m away to fill tanks at Murwillumbah the first time we emptied both tanks and paid an extra $10 for the privilege. Was a good workout, which is important when caravaning which is not very anaerobic lifestyle. 10c/litre is a bit much to pay for chlorinated municipal tap water! I regarded it as a bonus to the rather harried CP operator. She had had a tough time over recent years with some bereavements on top of the Covid hysteria. (We parted best of friends. It is a difficult job with all sorts of people and you should not expect Sheraton Hotel service for $25/night.)

      @@TripInAVan great tip, my starter pack supplied waste hose doesn't readily adapt to the barbed PVC fitting provided on the offroad van. Another trip to a retailer or online procurement if I can measure the hose and van fittings accurately! .
      Actually I find when buying plumbing fittings, I am best to take the pieces I am seeking to connect to a professional outfit like Reece. The people in the big Green sheds are not always able to help as they get overwhelmed with customers. but I find the counter staff at Reece to be helpful and eager to solve any problem you present them with.

    Good idea to use ratchet straps to tie down the awning. How to you peg them down?

    Thanks for the tips on campsite setup. Do you guys sit outside for eating? What type of table do you use and where do you store it? Cheers.

    • @geoffrogers276
      @geoffrogers276 2 года назад

      Personally I take 2 wooden tables and 2 folding chairs. I find the camp chairs not good to eat from, or helpful to my poor posture habits. The tables and chairs fold flat and all 4 pieces fit in a space about 1m x 300mm x 450 in the canopy covered drop side tray body. I store all on their sides I can get them out individually but almost invariably I take all out at same time anyway.
      We have had picnics in supermarket carparks or beautiful natural settings under the canopy flaps which I'd quicker than unrolling the awning.
      When you are moving a lot you need quick easy access but having a cup of tea in the outdoors is so much more relaxing than sitting in the same seat you've been in for 4h and are going to be in for another 4h on the afternoon.
      If we have a long stage to make we still stop every 1-2h as we want to get to destination alive and be fit to back it up next day with the same rhythm.
