Personally, I’d probably look at retirement in Central Texas…a bit west of San Antonio and Austin because it’s beautiful and a lot of things to do and see. Houston is good for healthcare though and has a few communities specifically for retirees.
Short answer: No They can get into the lakes occasionally from cypress creek. If they do get into the lakes they are captured and then released back into the creek. It is not a regular occurrence which is why I was surprised to see one. I notified the HOA/boathouse worker about this one.
