Damjan Pejcinoski I want to get more into gypsy. I been playing metal and rock for awhile. I have little knowledge in music theory. What is the most important thing to learning gypsy?

      "minor swing" by Django Reinhardt.

Many Jazz Standards sound like if they were composed specially for this style because Gypsy Jazz is technically American Swing on the way Django played it :)

I'd also recommend Made for Wesley. Of the few gypsy jazz songs I've gotten into, that one is my favorite.

TheJofrica this is great but sounds like he has a backing track doing the rhythm.... Regardless its awesome!
Watch All of me (for Eli) by Naudo. He plays it amazing! Does the bass while doing the lead at the same time. Its arrangement style.

There's no doubt that players like Damjan, who play such great gypsy jazz guitar, do not get the recognition they deserve for their effortless musicianship. Brilliantly played Damjan.

I have not counted but heard people say. so to become a master you need to practice.

      And loads of arpeggios

    • @FabioRodrigues-xs8vf
      @FabioRodrigues-xs8vf 6 лет назад +4

You can use loads of things but for a taste of what's going on musicly, here's a brief explanation.
All of me goes like this:
      Cma7 / E7 / A7 / Dm7
These are the first 8 bars.
So during the Cmaj7 you can hear diatonic upscaling in C Jonian, moving over to E7 he used alot of arpeggios back and forth and the E mixolydian b9b13 or A harmonic Minor. The following is interesting because you can use D Dorian or D Eolian. It's a 5 - 1 progression, dominant 5 chord being A7 and it resolves to Dminor. The D minor is part of the tunes key it's Cmajors 2 chord, making it Dorian but the A7 chord gives it an interesting Eolian / harmonic Minor sound.
You can also fuck around with arpeggios. You'd want to do the entire structure of the tune but for the initial four chords, the notes you can use are:
      Cmaj7 - C E G B
      E7 - E G# B D
      A7 - A C# E G
      Dm7 - D F A C

Even though he's a dbag, KW does have a couple of good songs. So does Katy Perry, Coldplay, and other pop artists. I can respect that, as artists, they're working at what they love and getting paid well to do it. Unfortunately, amazing musicians like this man, won't reach that popularity because most people are just followers. And because Radio stations refuse to take risks to play amazing music. I love music, I don't care what genre, good is good. But this. Is. Amazing!. :)

Kyle Rohman I think it was the jazz drummer Max Roach who pointed-out that the hip-hop artists of today were doing the same thing he was doing in the 30/40's- making music with whatever was in front of them to create a basic dialog of their experiences presented in a way that was acceptable in THEIR culture. I don't always like what I hear today, but I don't expect people who have different pasts than I do to work it out the same way I do.
