Just traded in my older Tacoma on a ‘21 Tundra yesterday and have spent about 3 hours watching a bunch of your videos and dropping about 600 bucks in Amazon. 😂 Thanks for some of these tips man. A lot of the. We’re already on the list but seeing them installed made me pull the trigger. Console safe, RC front shackles, bumpershellz, a bunch of AJT accessories, etc. The first big update I have to do to the truck is def a better sound system. Coming from my Tacoma, I’m actually shocked how bad the sound is in the Tundra (non-JBL, I don’t know how much better that actually is) but it reminds me of my dads old S-10 in the 90’s. Found a local guy that specializes in Tundra audio specifically so I think that’ll be a quick update. Then it’ll be getting another Diamondback cover.
I installed this yesterday. I was surprised by the difference in throttle response, slightly better than what it was and the engine just gave a different cleaner sound with this on. Even without telling me wife and having her drive she noticed a difference and liked it...like u said tow mode..it was even better...overall good $25 investment.
I have a 2019 Platinum & have done many mods. My Dirty Deeds growls & no drone…the BEST mod for performance would be the Sprint Booster!!! You’d Love it!!!
I have an ‘08 Tundra Crewmax 5.7 with a S&B cold air intake installed that has a sealed air box similar to the factory one that utilizes the stock intake tube going into the fender well. It does have a rubber insert that can be removed from the side of the box for more air flow but I don’t like the idea of it sucking in hot air from the engine bay. I’m wondering if putting this in will make much of a difference being that it already has pretty good air flow…
My gas mileage hasn’t changed but I’ll be doing a road trip soon and will monitor if I see any improvements. I only notice slightly louder engine/air-box noise, but I do see and feel a noticeable acceleration and shifting experience. It’s not nitrous but it does feel less sluggish in the high humidity weather where I live. Thanks for commenting and if you haven’t please subscribe I’m uploading a video every week.
What air filter do you use on the Tundra? Don't like cleaning the wet K&N ,looking at aFe dry ,Pro DRY S - 3 Layer Dry Media, any thoughts on that. Thanks for the vid , just installed the TRD Intake Flow Accelerator and the TRD Air Box Top on my '19 5.7L Tundra, it helped ! (the vid and the mods, LOL)
So right now for practicality I just use OE Toyota air filters that I change every 5K along with the cabin filter. It’s just easier that way than dealing with a K&N or some other oily type filter. Thanks for watching.
@@RS-gw2kt because of my lift and roof rack it’s hard to say about better gas mileage. It does bring more air in which essentially does help with that. I have kind of a heavy foot so I pay a price for that. LOL
@@828findadventure I just installed the accelerator and haven’t decided on the carbon filter. I’m sure it’s restricting some but I can’t tell if it’s enough to spend the time to remove it.
Very well, my bumper even got swiped hard by a senior pulling out of a parking space and the shellz stayed in place solid except for a few gouges in the plastic. Thanks for asking and if you haven’t please subscribe I try to upload a Tundra video every week.
It uses the computer to, as far as I can tell give you better shifting and power band. I can see where it would help towing heavy or in the mountains. As for using it when not towing it’s like have in a “tune” on the engine. You will definitely go through some tires. Be careful with it, the extra power at the push of a button is surprising.
@@GillyGomez It fits! Already installed. Except I used the previous snorkel foam surround and transferred to the TRD air accelerator to help isolate warm engine bay temps from recirc back thru the fender and into the TRD accelerator. Didnt see or feel much difference. But it uses a venturi effect nevertheless, so that you all can see some minor instrumented gains. But for $30. Who cares.
Anything that is less restrictive to air getting into the engine will help, even though the computer does most of the work. Those smooth hoses do get pricey and look good, but I don't think you would see the same bang for the buck as you do installing this TRD airflow accelerator on the Tacoma or Tundra. Have you seen my Tacoma install of the same part? It's an older video and basically shows the same install. I just installed the TRD horn last week and the most noticeable difference to me has been in acceleration. I just think it helps the engine gulp more air. Thanks for commenting, and if you haven't please subscribe I upload videos weekly.
Yes but it sounds really good for stock. Not sure why it's OE SR5 exhaust. Idles quiet but sounds great when you get on it. In my friend's TRD Pro the TRD pro exhaust is loud on start up and starting off but idles and cruises quietly.
@@828findadventure ive got a 21 tundra. I dont remember mine sounding that good when it was stock. I now have a dirty deeds exhaust on it and it sounds great but even with a resonator there is still some drone. So im tempted to put it back to stock.

Fantastic, I love mine, and an easy install. Thanks for commenting I"ve got more Tundra mods on the way.
I'd also remove that carbon filter that is riveted to the upper airbox cover. That should also free up some flow...
