@@carsonhunt4642 In combat, armed forces rarely use ear pro. They need to be able to clearly hear commands and subtle things which may be miscommunicated or go unnoticed with plugs/muffs. Hearing loss / tinnitus is one of the biggest issues for returning vets.

Plus they’ve had ear cups now that amplify lower sounds to be even louder (while blocking out loud sounds). Perhaps it’s time they upgraded

When unexpected, yes it can cause disorientation, but many can handle multiple shots just fine without ear pro when it's happening -- I don't mean they are immune to long-term damage. Health articles make it seem like one shot will burst your ear drum no question. In rare circumstances immediate hearing impairment can occur, but really most damage is from prolonged exposure to high decibels. I think you're discounting the value of actually hearing both loud and low sounds clearly. There are electronic ear plugs and muffs which instantly mitigate 'loud' sounds, but the thing is in infantry it can be very important to register those sounds at a higher level for situational awareness. The idea of being among a team wearing muffs in the thick of it is also laughable. It can be cumbersome. It's just not as practical as you might think relying on little wireless battery powered devices in the field. Think about other situations where people are running a more covert op and they have to communicate in a more hushed manner. Or when you're trying to use a radio to call something in. Or if you're on patrol at night. If you're going in guns blazing expecting to shoot anything that walks or firing artillery far away from combatants, sure, it would probably do them good to wear ear pro, but it's certainly not ideal for every situation. Many know their hearing will be fucked later, but it's a trade off for them depending on situation -- which could be life vs death.

Truly impressive the way they carry themselves. Great communication and even greater resilience. They are almost robotic in their target acquisition. Nothing seems to phase them. Even at the end of the lip they took accountability in identifying a person coming to collect the injured and did not fire, may not have had the angle maybe or did not see a weapon. In reality, it’s really not that bad. If you know what you’re doing. Shit, I shot a 50 standing up, it’s fun as fuck, kick is good, but the thing that really sucks is the weight.
If you’re properly holding it, you should be fine. The weight, barrel length, and Muzzle Brake do a lot to reduce the recoil. If it weighed as much as an M4 or something, different story
