I've trained BJJ for about a year but sometimes feel like I'm worse than people who trained for half a year. Probably this concept is the one that will help propel me forward, because I definitely saw myself in my mind shrimping in the situations that I wasn't supposed to. Excellent vid.

Ima purple and sad to say that ppl pass my guard with ease. I think it's the one thing that's really holding me back. Maybe this is what I needed all along. It's funny cuz I'm in a really good school but they get so caught up on teaching the curriculum than little things like this that go a long way. Maybe for some guys it comes natural and they did this from day one but I think this video will help me. The simplest things I'm terrible at. Like even the x pass. But I guess that's why BJJ is great because even the best can always learn more. I'll always do Jiujitsu no matter how bad I am lol. I love this stuff.

I really like the way you divide it up into scooting and shrimping. I'm not sure where "guard recovery" fits in though! In terms of what you demonstrated, I don't think it matters, just a desire for conceptual tidiness. The tip on don't shrimp too early is priceless!
