    Found your channel by chance.
    Glad I did - it's been a chore just to find a resource for learning conversational Japanese.
    Just want to be able to have a conversation with my Japanese relatives (some are elderly and have no interest learning English).
    Also, would be fun to enjoy going to Izakayas next time I travel to Japan. Have a fun time already, but know it'll be even more so if everyone was understood.
    Thanks for this - hopefully you'll upload more of these.

    Is it okay to speak casually with nihonjin at the first meet? If not, when should we speak with casual japanese?

    • @nihongo.nanana
      @nihongo.nanana  2 месяца назад +2

      I would say start with polite speech ;) If the person is your superior, elder, or someone you don’t know well, stick to polite speech. When you’ve grown closer or if the person invites you to use casual speech, you can make the switch🙌 If the other person (someone younger or the same age, typically) uses casual language with you, it’s usually a sign that you can do the same! I actually wrote a blog about it recently! You can get more details here: nihongonana.com/when-to-use-polite-casual-speech-in-japanese/

      それは話かけた相手に許可を求めるべきである。初対面での砕けた言い方は基本的に小学生までで中学生以上には相手の許しがない限りは敬語を使う。いきなりタメ口、軽口、砕けた言葉で話しかけてはいけません。

      @@Personwholivessomewhere そのまたね! という言い方も相手にもよります。自分と距離感がある相手には(また会いましょう) です。言葉遣いのうるさい日本人にはこの丁寧な言い方です。子供や自分と距離感の近い相手、自分と親しい人にはその言い方でいいです。職場等で自分の上司等親しくない相手にはじゃあねとかまたねは駄目です。

    Is it rude to ask 'shigoto was nan desu ka' or is it just slightly less polite than 'oshigoto wa nan desu ka'?

    • @nihongo.nanana
      @nihongo.nanana  2 месяца назад +4

      "shigoto wa nan desuka" is still fine! That's not considered to be rude, but it just sounds a little too straightforward. The /o/ in the beginning makes it more polite.
