i went out while in Korea and when the club let out at 5am we wondered into a Gamjatang place and the women just sat us down and was like "dont look at the menu eat this" and it was literally the tastiest hardest to eat while drunk food I've ever had
+Simon and Martina it may have involved us burning ourselves a bit and then eventually abandoning chopsticks all together and eating with our hands we're classy like that
+Simon and Martina Hey, how come your channel is now called "Simon and Martina"? Wasn't it Eat Your Kimchi before? It appears as "Eat Your Kimchi" on the subscription side bar thingy, but is that a glitch or what?
Every night when it gets to around 3AM and I'm hungry but can't make food or I'll wake people up, I live vicariously through Simon and Martina and their many food blogs.
Watching this is 2021 makes me so happy :) I miss you guys as a couple, but I also understand that you are on to great new projects, I can't wait to see what both of you have prepared for the world.
As much as I love watching your videos, I want to make a correction! The "Gamja" in Gamjatang doesn't mean potato, rather it is an old name for a part of the backbone of pork! That is why there is so scarce amount of potatoes and so much pork bones. Anyhow, love watching all your videos, I procrastinate too much watching your videos hahaha :)
Just started watching all your videos and I feel like I've been watching them non-stop for the past few days because they're so good! Really interesting to see about so many different topics from Korea! :)
Fun fact: The ground-up seeds that you labelled "sesame seeds" in the video are actually perilla seeds! Same plant as the one the leaves come off of. SO good.
OMG Gamjatang is my favorite. I grew up in a district of Beijing where there's an abundance of Korean restaurant because all the korean immigrants just when there and Gamjatang is like one of the best things I've eaten in my life.
Literally just finished a bowl of Gamjatang Ramyeon. Had some leftover from Korean Dinner, took some Shin Ramyeon, combined it with some more hot water and bam! So good..
I find that chop sticks are really the best tool to eat with and this is coming from a Westerner who only recently started using chop sticks. I even use them while cooking now, lol but then again Simon demonstrates at 3:45 that hands and teeth are pretty great too,
I just want to let you know that FAPFAPs are literally my favorite videos on RUclips. I've probably f*cking watched every single one at least twice. This has been such a fun adventure watching your videos so far. If you're ever in San Francisco, let's nom it up!
For the longest time I thought the "kamja" in kamja tang was potato. I always wondered why there weren't actually many potatoes in it haha then finally a friend told me the truth. Languages are hard ㅠㅠ but its still delicious and perfect for cold nights~
This was the first Korean food that my school took me out for. I literally forced me to learn how to use chopsticks well.. so good! I was told by Koreans that Gamjatang doesn't actually mean potato soup in this case but the bone in the soup.
Thank you Simon and Martina! My boyfriend took me to Alirang last night for my birthday. I had been listing for this restaurant for a while so I had picked apart the menu over and over to see what I would like to try. Once I saw this video, it pretty much sold me on the idea of gamjatang. When it came to the table, there sadly was no dipping sauce... no need. It was so delicious! my boyfriend started lamenting over the food and asking where it had been all of his life. He then said that it is the best meal of his life. I think it broke him. my reaction was less dramatic. Although, my heart broke a little when all of the pork was gone and I was full. we added ddeok for $1 each. Sadly no potato... Thanks again for bringing this dish to our attention.
I'm on a diet, and watching your videos make me so satisfied for some reason! Makes me yearn for alllll d that meat, but is fulfilling (for some reason haha). Thanks so much ❤❤❤
Honestly, I asked for forks at a lot of Korean restaurants when I visited Seoul 8 ish years ago, and they normally had some in the back. I had such an easy time with gamjatang. I ain't even ashamed.
I guess bibimbap and gamja tang is like Hamburger and Babyback ribs if you are a foreigner learning about American cuisines. Hamburger maybe be widely known but Babyback ribs takes the cake, if it comes with a cake.
In Singapore, there is this dim sum restaurant, "swee choon" that opens at 6pm to 6am in the morning. Nearby there is little india. Indian food galore that is open way past midnight.
SIMON MARTINA! try this: instead of scraping off the meat, push it off the bones. Like hold the bone scrape off the front part or whatever and then push the middle parts backwards so the meat falls off the bone in bigger pieces.
I went to george brown in toronto for a semester (dont ask lol) and made some korean friends there. and once it got cold they brought me to koreatown and we all went for gamjatang. it was my first taste of korean food and gamjatang is probably the best starting point for korean food. it was so delicious and comforting. EVERYONE needs to try it. Unless you're vegetarian then I'm really really sorry....
My favorite Korean dish, oh how I miss it. Our favorite place stayed open all night and had the spicy crunchy radish kimchi! Ah, Korean food, so great!
a hot jiggae, a hot hot jiggae, a hot jiggae, a hot hot kimchi jiggae~ I watched this video again this morning, now it's 8:38 pm and this song is still stuck in my head! Martina, i can honestly say thad you are by far my favourite singer/songwriter!! :D :D
Sooo tell me why can't i have this amazing food now????😢😢 that looks really really good, can't wait to try this meal! ❤ Thanks for showing us also food which isn't as popular as kimchi, bulgogi and so on 😊 감사합니다 🍖
Thank you Simon and Martina!! I will hopefully get to go to a Korean restaurant here in Koreatown, Dallas, Texas. Its the closet thing to Korea I can get right now. If they have Gamjatang I will definitely give it a try!
I'm not much of a spicy food fan but I had to try gamjatang. It's awesome and it was also a rainy and dreary day so it was the perfect meal! And totally agree that you have to have a little bit of some chopstick skills
I've had Gamjatang before, it's sooo good! Unfortunatly, I suck at chopsticking and it had it while I was out to dinner with a bunch of my Korean friends and felt super awkward and had no clue what I was doing. If only I have watched this video sooner...
Oh that's the name. I'm studying abroad right now and every dinner the Korean students would order this and all I see is piles of bones and I always wondered what it is. You guys answered my question.
Martina if you know how it be awesome to see a cooking video of this! Where I live there really isn't very many foreign food places besides chinese takeout.
i went out while in Korea and when the club let out at 5am we wondered into a Gamjatang place and the women just sat us down and was like "dont look at the menu eat this" and it was literally the tastiest hardest to eat while drunk food I've ever had
+MrLittlebigcity I could not imagine trying to eat this while drunk. I need something that's a lot easier to eat!
+Simon and Martina it may have involved us burning ourselves a bit and then eventually abandoning chopsticks all together and eating with our hands we're classy like that
+MrLittlebigcity Well, at least feet didn't get involved.
Time for one of our favourite Korean comfort foods, Gamjatang: Korean Pork Bone Stew!
감자탕은 감자가 들어가서 감자탕이 아니에요! 돼지고기의 '감자'라는 부위를 써서 감자탕이에용
Finally! This is my favourite Korean food thank you!
+Simon and Martina love u guys and gamjatang!!!! going back to seoul in the winter :)
+Simon and Martina You guys are totally S&M: NASTY torture to watch your videos on an empty stomach sometimes :p
+Simon and Martina Hey, how come your channel is now called "Simon and Martina"? Wasn't it Eat Your Kimchi before? It appears as "Eat Your Kimchi" on the subscription side bar thingy, but is that a glitch or what?
gamjatang is one of the most underrated asian soups out there. it'll beat the snot out of the common cold during the winter season.
Every night when it gets to around 3AM and I'm hungry but can't make food or I'll wake people up, I live vicariously through Simon and Martina and their many food blogs.
'Gamja' does mean potato but for 'Gamjatang' its a dialect for meat in different parts of Korea
Thank you to Tamialuz for the Spanish subtitles, and thank you to the kind stranger who make English subtitles as well!
Still love this video! This looks like the ultimate comfort food.
The ending about the Lee Min Ho trying to eat Gamjatang sexily just made me spurt out the saliva in my mouth from laughing 😂
Watching this is 2021 makes me so happy :) I miss you guys as a couple, but I also understand that you are on to great new projects, I can't wait to see what both of you have prepared for the world.

yeah
Actually that theory is not officially recognized.
+shin oui it's more convincing tho :P
my Korean professor said the hanja for gamja is not potato but for the specific part of pig the bone is coming from.
This is the real meaning.
Italian subtitles are now up, too! Thank you for the help, you lovely person!
Just started watching all your videos and I feel like I've been watching them non-stop for the past few days because they're so good! Really interesting to see about so many different topics from Korea! :)
You guys are the best! Thanks for the upload!
Thanks for the view!
Looks delicious! It would be so fun to eat a meal with you guys.
Got to stop watching these at night before i go to bed. Mouth watering and looks amazing.
Sweet! Japanese subtitles are now up! Yay!
Fun fact: The ground-up seeds that you labelled "sesame seeds" in the video are actually perilla seeds! Same plant as the one the leaves come off of. SO good.

Aww you guys have come so far and you still have a long ways to go! I wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your lives ❤
Literally just finished a bowl of Gamjatang Ramyeon. Had some leftover from Korean Dinner, took some Shin Ramyeon, combined it with some more hot water and bam! So good..

+neil potts Thank you!
It's hard to eat with chopsticks, eh? So you are saying I might have to "BONE" up on my skills before I go try it? I'm so sorry... hahaha
Get out.
+Herb Toker HA HA HA!
+Simon and Martina Thank you, thank you I'll be here all week, make sure to tip your waitresses!
I wanna go to Korea so badly and try out all these foods you guys are having. They look so good!
And did you ever get to go 😃?
@@CaptainTingo Nope
This was the first Korean food that my school took me out for. I literally forced me to learn how to use chopsticks well.. so good! I was told by Koreans that Gamjatang doesn't actually mean potato soup in this case but the bone in the soup.

Honestly, I asked for forks at a lot of Korean restaurants when I visited Seoul 8 ish years ago, and they normally had some in the back. I had such an easy time with gamjatang. I ain't even ashamed.
This was one of my favorite meals while I was in Korea! So good for the winter time
OK , i'm hungry nowww
I've had this before in LA. It was really good. They threw in a bunch of rice into the broth after we were done and that rice was amazing
This looks funky to the point I might hunt down the recipe and make it sometime this winter plus bone soups are so good for you. Excellent vid!~ :D
Gamjatang has become such a trend in Toronto... and I'm so glad for it!
You guys have seriously made me obsessed with wanting to try Korean food... This is great!! ^.^
Gamjatang is one of my favorite korean dishes! I love it! Not a lot of people I know like it though. I always tell them that they're missing out!
Martina and Simon's dorky jokes are my favorites, between getting Jiggae with it and the Tang=Thong Song one. you adorable Canadians, you.
I guess bibimbap and gamja tang is like Hamburger and Babyback ribs if you are a foreigner learning about American cuisines. Hamburger maybe be widely known but Babyback ribs takes the cake, if it comes with a cake.

In New Zealand we have a meal called Boil Up and this reminds me of it. Now I'm having cravings..
Was just about to type that lol. Korean Boil up, looks so good!!
SIMON MARTINA! try this: instead of scraping off the meat, push it off the bones. Like hold the bone scrape off the front part or whatever and then push the middle parts backwards so the meat falls off the bone in bigger pieces.
I find it interesting that it's not very advertised in korea but in toronto it's one of the most ordered dishes
I thought my phone was ringing at one point when I was watching and I had to pause and listen. lmao
Rebecca Perkins me too
Many years later and that sound is still trolling people.
I went to george brown in toronto for a semester (dont ask lol) and made some korean friends there. and once it got cold they brought me to koreatown and we all went for gamjatang. it was my first taste of korean food and gamjatang is probably the best starting point for korean food. it was so delicious and comforting. Simon: "This is the granddaddy piece"
Martina: What's up child
The ringing sound around 2:03 had me worried that my phone is broken because I could hear the ringing but it wasnt popping up on my screen 😂😂😂
YUMMMM~~ One of my favorites! Galbitang is also amazing in winter!

People shouldn't be scared off by the bones, it's the bones that makes it taste amaaazing~

Late night at the office watching this and droolin all over the place...

For some reason, I miss your old Fapfap video style lol (conservative Fapfapper)
Thanks for making informational videos in an entertaining way, you guys are the best :D best wishes to the whole crew, Spudgy, and Meemers :)
Can you teach us how to make that? WAH!!! It looks good!!!
Gamjatang is pretty popular in Toronto, have you guys ever tried it here? I wonder if they taste the same as the ones in Korea.
+mikiyo33 Hmmm, no! I never had it in Toronto. I gotta give it a shot there. I wonder how it compares :D
I totally agree. I might be stretching here, but everyone I know eats gamjatang! It's my go-to whenever the temp drops to 5 degrees or lower!
+mikiyo33 it seems to be pretty authentic here!
+mikiyo33 Yup, definitely my go to dish.
looks amazing! I hope I can experience it someday!

Good lord I've never drooled so hard while watching a video.
I've had Gamjatang before, it's sooo good! Unfortunatly, I suck at chopsticking and it had it while I was out to dinner with a bunch of my Korean friends and felt super awkward and had no clue what I was doing. If only I have watched this video sooner...
As with most Korean food, it does not necessarily look appetizing, but it tastes so damn good!
That looks so good! Kinda reminds me of my nanny's beef stew
Hates Will Smith songs but sang "Getting Jjigae with it"? haha.
Oh that's the name. I'm studying abroad right now and every dinner the Korean students would order this and all I see is piles of bones and I always wondered what it is. You guys answered my question.
Looks so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh god.. that food looked so good. I am so hungry now.
Do you have the name or address for the restaurant? Going to korea in a few weeks can't wait to try it :D
my fave korean food!
Martina if you know how it be awesome to see a cooking video of this! Where I live there really isn't very many foreign food places besides chinese takeout.
