omfg when i went to osaka with my school they literally just brought us to restaurants and we had no idea what they were and each person had an entire plate of kushiage accompanied by a bowl of rice and i fell in love with the scallop and quail eggs they were everything i didnt knew i needed in my life :") makes me wanna go back to japan huhuhu i miss the food

After going to New Zealand I have a newfound appreciation of deep fried things. At some of the gas stations they have deep fried lasagna and deep fried mac n cheese, and it is soooo good. Especially after a few days backpacking eating lean, first thing you want when you get into town is fatty stuff.

Every time I watch your guy's videos on food I have to pause to make something to eat...just makes me so hungry! I was curious if you guys have visited (or plan to visit) Nakatanidou in Nara City(?) They are known to have the BEST mochi, the way they make it is pretty cool too; I think you'd love it :)
I recently went to the kushiage place in Dontonbori, Ganso Kushiatsu (the famous one with the statue of the glaring chef with arms crossed in front of the restaurant). I ordered a set menu of I think it was 11 skewers. The service was fabulous, but I was underwhelmed by the food. After a few sticks, everything started tasting the same due to the coat of breading. I was barely able to finish the last stick. I wonder if it makes any difference going to a kushiage place away from the tourist traps.
Love you guys....... I am from the northeastern part of India. Our staple is rice and pork and I believe we eat the hottest curries (martina) and it is home of 'ghost pepper' one of the hottest chilly in the world. Please come to India. 🙏🏻
wish I can try their food. I seem to almost always get oil drenched fried food. their mistake is leaving the food too long in the oil, not allowing the oil to be drained afterwards, or in my house the cook forgets they are cooking while finishing other tasks [if lucky that the food is not burned].

I agree, I think we can appreciate as fans that the EYS videos take a lot longer to produce - but I miss all their little stories and experiences with different people and the differences with culture! Here's hoping they haven't completely given up on them :) Still loving the foodie adventures though - definitely will plan my Japan trip around some of the cool places they've visited!
I have to agree as well! These food videos are really good and it's plain how much effort they put in them. That being said, it really feels like this is like a 90% foodie channel now lol... I personally would prefer to see more WANKs or EYS segments, if only because it's just been so much food lately! But whatever makes them happy...

Well these battered/breaded skewer are usually called Kushikatsu（串カツ） instead of kushiage (which implies any type of frying, not mentioning the coating/breading). They actually have specified that that on the lamps 0:06.
Simon and Martina I really want to!!! I'm going to set a goal to go within the next 2-3 years, I want to save enough money to go for AT LEAST 3 weeks. I should point out that deep-fried cheese is a staple here in the Midwest U.S. No trip to the Minnesota State Fair - or to Culver's - is complete without an order of deep-fried cheese curds. Of course, we typically use beer batter instead of panko.
I would totally eat anything that's been pressed against Simon's face. That's one clean looking face. Simon's face is probably cleaner than the dishes in some restaurants. I can imagine Simon post face-burn in conversation: "so Simon....what happened to your face?" Simon: "Testing.....the heat.....of deep fried shrimp....." I stop going to restaurants that try to rush you in and out. That's just not a good experience. I love when you guys dance. Your dancing celebration video in Korea was awesome. The cheaper teriyaki places in the US deep fry the gyoza. It almost always sucks because the wrapper is too thin, and everything gets greasy.

Cristina c its not soggy at all, and it isnt greasier than the food being shown in this video that is japanese, a culture known for their healthy diet, so stop spreading prejudice about my country, our gastronomy was declared intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO which is more that can be said about your american "cuisine"
