I like In rainbows of course, but for me, OK computer it’s the best of all. Then probably AMSP, then In rainbows. But I have quite a feeling for Amnesiac and Kid A. Ahhh forget about it. It’s impossible to rank Radiohead. So for me 1- Ok computer and amnesiac (the first one I ever heard) 2- all the rest 3- Pablo honey

Even though I generally love weird music like the Flaming Lips, the Doors, and Pink Floyd, I am not a fan of the kind that can be super ambient and off. I love Kid A the album, but track 2 is an example of what I don't like. I love tracks 1 and 3 a lot! Same with OK Computer. I don't like track 1, but I love Paranoid Android. I'm not sure what it is. The earlier albums are mostly too simple for me, with a few exceptions.

If memory serves me right, the label wanted to release "Electioneering" as the first single, since back then it had been recorded differently and sounded like the U2 stadium anthems that they wanted to cash in. So the boys re-recorded Electioneering to make it grungy and abrasive, removed "Lift" from the record in fear that it would be the next single candidate (being afraid of making them too big, after witnessing how Jagged Little Pill was eating Alanis Morrissette alive while touring) and pushed Paranoid Android for the first single. They have basically tried to sabotage their commercial viability at every point and it made their legacy timeless.
I'm 35 and I just got this album for my 15 year old nephew, and he had a similar reaction. We have bonded really hard over music- he grew up on southern gospel music and Disney, so I have really blown his mind. He was amazed that I was old enough to have seen Radiohead play live and that his aunt took me with her. I'm just amazed that 2003 is now somehow 21 years ago instead of 5 years ago. Lol
People who weren’t around in 97 will never understand how much Radiohead were crucified by the mainstream media when No Surprises was released. They called it depressing, suicide music and made fun of Thoms appearance. Horrible people.
Whenever somebody tries to gild the 90's as the last decade where everything is awesome, I'm glad to remind them that many of the things that are lousy today were lousy back then: media, politicians, wars, substance abuse. Powerful music like OK Computer does not emerge from places packed with puppies and roses.
The album cover picture is of a bridge in Hartford, Connecticut when the band stayed there at a hotel in the 90s. This album means a lot to me and it was nice to see you review it. Paranoid Android is also Danny Brown’s favorite song. Radiohead in general has gotten a ton of respect from hiphop artists and producers.
I first heard this album in the summer of 1999 when I was 15, and it is not an exaggeration to say that it rewired my brain forever. I got pretty emotional watching you fall in love with it too. Thank you for sharing! ❤
And Exit Music was written for the credits of the Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet from the late 90s. Lyrics hit a little different when you realize he’s literally singing Shakespeare. Glad you loved Fitter Happier, it is one of the best pieces of satire ever written about the image of an ideal modern life. It is peak dark comedy and them using the program on 90s Macintosh computers we would use to say things like “boobs” and “_____ has a small penis” in elementary school just adds to it imo.
Imagine my shock listening to this album for the first time as a teen and being blown away, and realizing I RECOGNIZED a song from it already because it was in the closing credits of a movie I watched in theater class😂

I cannot stress to you enough. If Radiohead ever record another album and go on tour. Do everything in your power to see them live, as there likely will not be another opportunity. Radiohead are the greatest live act I have ever seen and it’s not close. The way their songs translate live is astonishing. Tracks that you hear in later albums that you just cannot imagine how they could ever perform live come together in surprising ways. Do not skip this tour and regret it later.
I’m old and remember being in high school and going to the mall and buying the CDs of this and Bjork’s Homogenic. They’re still my favorite albums and still remind me of how they made me feel then, a reminder I needed that there are beautiful things in this world.
I grew up in the deep south (Alabama, so really really deep) and lived in a southern baptist household. I had to sneak around and come up with the craziest deception tactics you've ever imagined to get non-Christian music in the house. This was one of the albums I got smuggled to me by my cool step sister who worked at a record store. Changed everything for me.

Let Down is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. A lot of people say it’s their least favorite on the album or they don’t get it. I’ll never understand, to me it’s perfect. Thanks for letting me listen to it for the first time again vicariously.
I saw Radiohead live in Brisbane at the now sadly defunct Festival Hall in 1997, touring on the back of OK Computer. I'd been listening to the album on repeat and the thing that struck me was all the sounds I thought were Computer based were all generated live on the instruments. And Thom Yorke's voice obviously, just insane. Jonny Greenwood coaxing shit out of his guitar with that weird thing on his wrist. The concert went for 2+ hours, they played all of OK Computer, the Bends, and the good songs from Pablo Honey. It. Was. Incredible. Best concert I've ever been to. I was singing my lungs out along with Thom. At one point, a girl turned around and said to me: "I didn't come here to listen to you." I just shrugged and sang louder. They finished with "the Tourist", and the lights in the venue came up. The crowd started surging out, and the girl I was with threw herself into my arms like Scarlett O'Hara or something. I knew she fell so I would catch her but it didn't matter. I held her in my arms tight and kissed her, the crowd pulsing about like waves in a storm. You're right: Radiohead live in their prime were incredible, and seeing you discover this album really brought some good memories back. Top stuff.
I think that The Tourist is my favourite track, and perhaps the most perfect closing track to an album. In Rainbows is an incredible album and highy recommended.
There is before OK Computer and there is after. I remember listening to this in 1997 and my jaw hanging open in sheer awe that human beings created something this brilliant.

i recommend because you loved this so much to check out jeff buckley’s first and only album (r.i.p.) grace. he heavily influenced thom yorke when thom saw jeff perform live and influenced radioheads transition from the sound of pablo honey to the bends and then ok computer.
I've spent the night watching various reactions and yours has been wonderful to watch. I know you could feel that in every fiber of your being. Great observations even for the finest detail's. You have all the qualifications now if not already. It's a raw awakening isn't it. We really get you because you get it. If Radiohead found you it surely means your ready for the next step in your evolution. I'm 56 and been in to them since the early 90s. Still to this day I'm blown away and taken away every time. This album is a masterpiece. You need to listen to their discography in order to appreciate how diverse they are. Don't listen to people who say Pablo Honey sucks because it doesn't. It is not as fabulous as the rest of their discography.
This album is my alltime favorite, from the beginning to the end. Thanks for your genuine reaction to it, it was a great time (of course I'm being emotial after hearing it once again, leave me alone)
This was a cutting edge album when it dropped, and the dense layering of sound beyond their more traditional rock roots definitely set the course for their future work. "Lucky" was the first song recorded and it kind of set the direction and soundscape for the record. The band wanted something more than "another sad record", referring to their excellent but very sad sophomore album The Bends, which you should absolutely listen to. OK Computer is plenty sad but there is also joy, and it's all framed in a very anti-corporate, anti-capitalist way. It definitely felt prescient and applicable as technology exploded in the late 90s and even moreso today. This album saw the band take over production of their own music, and really expand their musicianship and expression in songs. Nigel Goodrich became their producer and he remains so to this day. Most of the album was recorded live rather than overdubbing, and there are a lot of first take vocals on the album as well. Really appreciate your genuine joy and excitement. One of the best reactions I've seen to this album and I've watched them all.
Lucky was written and recorded for a war child charity album after the release of ok computer, afterwards it was added to ok computer in later editions, you won't find it on the first copies of the album
I've been privileged enough to see Radiohead live twice in my life, once while they were touring In Rainbows and again for A Moon Shaped Pool. I first saw them in 2008 playing a stadium in Vancouver, and then in 2017 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, and it was lightly raining for both... and yes, truly transcendent experiences. Please please listen to In Rainbows though, it's my favourite of their albums!
The first time I heard the album I was about 17. To me this is easily in the same league of Rubber Soul, and Revolver by The Beatles, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, Ziggy Stardust, etc, as one of the most important and influential albums of all time. I’m 24 now and been a musician since I was 12, and this album STILL is one of my biggest influences.

It's amazing to see someone "get" every emotional nuance of this album, all right on cue, all at the perfect moment. It really makes you think that soul's might be from different "places", there is Planet Kid Rock which is fine!, but I am glad I am from planet Radiohead.
I Hope you all realize how fantastic was listening to OkC in 1997, among a lot of rock, pop, soul and metal bands/singers, without our present technology... Me and a Lot of Radiohead fans felt like we were in the future, and I'm proud of being part of that decade.
Definitely one of the best reactions to OK Computer I've seen and I've watched a lot. Well, I've tried. The people who dice up the songs into disjointed snippets make it difficult to get into the flow. Thank you for not doing that too much. It always makes it better. You said you teared up at the end of Let Down. I remember the first time hearing Let Down in a CD store years ago. Probably late 2000, early 2001. When I heard the drums stomp in for the ending verse I was like what the heck is this? I've cried many times listening to OK Computer and in particular Let Down. Lucky pulled me through some trying years in the 2000s. That was my go to song to tell me everything would work out. Prior to that I hard heard Paranoid Android, No Surprises and Karma Police. But for some reason, even though I really liked the songs, I never got the album till like 5 years later. I was blown away hearing it the first time. Then I just bought everything they had released up to that point. All the singles. I couldn't stop. They've been in constant rotation ever since with a mini break here and there. In their film Meeting People Is Easy, it goes through the trying times during the tour for OK Computer. It was hard on Thom. But the reviews upon release referred to OK Computer as a dreamscape. It's a very apt descriptor. Simply an incredible album from a band that has almost entirely all incredible albums. Thank you for reacting with passion and being yourself!

Loving your reactions dude. You mentioned you like sad music so if you aren’t familiar with him already I suggest checking out Elliott Smith. He struggled greatly with addiction and mental illness so those things are the theme of a lot of his music. Sadly took his own life in 2003 (though many people believe he was murdered). He was a genius and his entire catalogue is incredible.
Anyone who wants more of this Era of Radiohead, should give the a listen to the songs that weren't on the album, They always released a few singles along side the album, that had 3 or 4 tracks that didn't make it. Give a listen to Pearly, Pulo Alto, etc. wont be disappointed
I first listened to this album in 2010 after hearing so much about how beloved and acclaimed it is, and I was really blown away by it as well. I didn't expect there would be any aggressive riffs or gnarly solos, or even catchy songs, so I was constantly being surprised throughout the whole thing
I first listened to this album like 15 years too late, driving at night along a lonely freeway, not knowing anything about Radiohead except Creep, and it also changed my brain forever. You just cannot prepare yourself for the distraught beauty of this album.
My best friend bought this album when it came out in '97. At his house with some other friends, we partook of some LSD, laid down on his bedroom floor with the lights off, and listened to OK Computer for the first time in its entirety. Exit Music was a whole experience. Life changing.
No Surprises riff has been my ringtone for the last 5 years. I was your age in the 90's and I while I knew Radiohead, I never really paid much attention to them. I rediscovered them in my late 40's and would now list them in my top 5 bands of all time, mostly because of this perfect album.

Fitter Happier is based on the Physicist Stephen Hawking, who had ALS and had a voice box computer so he could communicate. Hawking was English and the voice box was made in California, so the English were obsessed that their genius spoke with an American accent. His voice sounded similar to Hawkings, but it was the singer, Thom, speaking through a computer.
Watching your reaction to this reminds me of the first time I played the CD the week it was released. I remember putting it on my home hifi and being absolutely mesmerised. After 2 spins I had to go out and tell anyone who I saw that I’d just heard the greatest rock album of all time. I was right then.

this was a lot of fun to watch :) i saw them many times, id guess around 10 or so. and being a musician who has had a fairly long and eclectic career, i have taken in a wide variety of unforgettable shows over the years. but the 2nd time i saw radiohead - at liberty state park in 2002, 24 years old, with the skyline of manhattan behind the stage - is still the best show ive ever seen (and possibly ever will see). when they played no surprises and thom sang "bring down the government, they dont speak for us" the entire crowd of 30,000 spontaneously roared. it felt like a burst of electricity through the whole park. thom grinned back at us, loving it. later in the set, thom sang like spinning plates with only his piano, and the sound was like shimmering, iridescent waves floating over our heads. one of the most haunting, gorgeous things ive ever heard. no one made a single noise throughout the entire song. to this day ive still never heard such a huge crowd get so quiet.
It is literally one of my favourite hobbies, just to watch people enjoying Radiohead for the first time. I'm glad you enjoy it!

Let Down is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. A lot of people say it’s their least favorite on the album or they don’t get it. I’ll never understand, to me it’s perfect. Thanks for letting me listen to it for the first time again vicariously.
Genuinely never heard anyone ever say that. Everyone I've ever known has pointed to it as a highlight.

I saw Radiohead live in Brisbane at the now sadly defunct Festival Hall in 1997, touring on the back of OK Computer. I'd been listening to the album on repeat and the thing that struck me was all the sounds I thought were Computer based were all generated live on the instruments. And Thom Yorke's voice obviously, just insane. Jonny Greenwood coaxing shit out of his guitar with that weird thing on his wrist. The concert went for 2+ hours, they played all of OK Computer, the Bends, and the good songs from Pablo Honey. It. Was. Incredible. Best concert I've ever been to. I was singing my lungs out along with Thom. At one point, a girl turned around and said to me: "I didn't come here to listen to you." I just shrugged and sang louder. They finished with "the Tourist", and the lights in the venue came up. The crowd started surging out, and the girl I was with threw herself into my arms like Scarlett O'Hara or something. I knew she fell so I would catch her but it didn't matter. I held her in my arms tight and kissed her, the crowd pulsing about like waves in a storm. You're right: Radiohead live in their prime were incredible, and seeing you discover this album really brought some good memories back. Top stuff.
I think that The Tourist is my favourite track, and perhaps the most perfect closing track to an album.
In Rainbows is an incredible album and highy recommended.
There is before OK Computer and there is after. I remember listening to this in 1997 and my jaw hanging open in sheer awe that human beings created something this brilliant.
This is my favourite album ever made. First vinyl I got about a year ago when I started collecting and It still feels fresh on every listen

I think this proves that it’s when you go into your first OK Computer listen with the absolute highest expectations of a life changing album - you will still have those expectations exceeded by far.
The main theme of the album is probably the anxiety, isolation, and alienation caused by living in a modern, technologically developed society
paranoid android makes me tear up bad, it's not that it makes me cry, its more like the sheer intensity, I don't know how to explain it but I love it. No surprises fully makes me cry lol

i recommend because you loved this so much to check out jeff buckley’s first and only album (r.i.p.) grace. he heavily influenced thom yorke when thom saw jeff perform live and influenced radioheads transition from the sound of pablo honey to the bends and then ok computer.
I've spent the night watching various reactions and yours has been wonderful to watch. I know you could feel that in every fiber of your being. Great observations even for the finest detail's. You have all the qualifications now if not already. It's a raw awakening isn't it. We really get you because you get it. If Radiohead found you it surely means your ready for the next step in your evolution. I'm 56 and been in to them since the early 90s. Still to this day I'm blown away and taken away every time. This album is a masterpiece. You need to listen to their discography in order to appreciate how diverse they are. Don't listen to people who say Pablo Honey sucks because it doesn't. It is not as fabulous as the rest of their discography.

This was a cutting edge album when it dropped, and the dense layering of sound beyond their more traditional rock roots definitely set the course for their future work.
"Lucky" was the first song recorded and it kind of set the direction and soundscape for the record. The band wanted something more than "another sad record", referring to their excellent but very sad sophomore album The Bends, which you should absolutely listen to. OK Computer is plenty sad but there is also joy, and it's all framed in a very anti-corporate, anti-capitalist way. It definitely felt prescient and applicable as technology exploded in the late 90s and even moreso today.
This album saw the band take over production of their own music, and really expand their musicianship and expression in songs. Nigel Goodrich became their producer and he remains so to this day. Most of the album was recorded live rather than overdubbing, and there are a lot of first take vocals on the album as well.
Really appreciate your genuine joy and excitement. One of the best reactions I've seen to this album and I've watched them all.
Lucky was written and recorded for a war child charity album after the release of ok computer, afterwards it was added to ok computer in later editions, you won't find it on the first copies of the album

Radiohead always take you to an emotional place like no other band imo
I've been privileged enough to see Radiohead live twice in my life, once while they were touring In Rainbows and again for A Moon Shaped Pool. I first saw them in 2008 playing a stadium in Vancouver, and then in 2017 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, and it was lightly raining for both... and yes, truly transcendent experiences. Please please listen to In Rainbows though, it's my favourite of their albums!

The first time I heard the album I was about 17. To me this is easily in the same league of Rubber Soul, and Revolver by The Beatles, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, Ziggy Stardust, etc, as one of the most important and influential albums of all time. I’m 24 now and been a musician since I was 12, and this album STILL is one of my biggest influences.

I listened to this album when I was 19, on my discman, the day it came out. I had to find a corner at the mall in Mexico City, where I live, and I took that ride to another dimension… Thank you for reminding me of that. 🙏🏻✨

It's amazing to see someone "get" every emotional nuance of this album, all right on cue, all at the perfect moment. It really makes you think that soul's might be from different "places", there is Planet Kid Rock which is fine!, but I am glad I am from planet Radiohead.
I Hope you all realize how fantastic was listening to OkC in 1997, among a lot of rock, pop, soul and metal bands/singers, without our present technology... Me and a Lot of Radiohead fans felt like we were in the future, and I'm proud of being part of that decade.
Definitely one of the best reactions to OK Computer I've seen and I've watched a lot. Well, I've tried. The people who dice up the songs into disjointed snippets make it difficult to get into the flow. Thank you for not doing that too much. It always makes it better. You said you teared up at the end of Let Down. I remember the first time hearing Let Down in a CD store years ago. Probably late 2000, early 2001. When I heard the drums stomp in for the ending verse I was like what the heck is this? I've cried many times listening to OK Computer and in particular Let Down. Lucky pulled me through some trying years in the 2000s. That was my go to song to tell me everything would work out. Prior to that I hard heard Paranoid Android, No Surprises and Karma Police. But for some reason, even though I really liked the songs, I never got the album till like 5 years later. I was blown away hearing it the first time. Then I just bought everything they had released up to that point. All the singles. I couldn't stop. They've been in constant rotation ever since with a mini break here and there.
In their film Meeting People Is Easy, it goes through the trying times during the tour for OK Computer. It was hard on Thom. But the reviews upon release referred to OK Computer as a dreamscape. It's a very apt descriptor. Simply an incredible album from a band that has almost entirely all incredible albums. Thank you for reacting with passion and being yourself!

Loving your reactions dude. You mentioned you like sad music so if you aren’t familiar with him already I suggest checking out Elliott Smith. He struggled greatly with addiction and mental illness so those things are the theme of a lot of his music. Sadly took his own life in 2003 (though many people believe he was murdered). He was a genius and his entire catalogue is incredible.
If I had a time machine I would go back and listen to this album for the first time again. There was nothing like it at the time.

Anyone who wants more of this Era of Radiohead, should give the a listen to the songs that weren't on the album, They always released a few singles along side the album, that had 3 or 4 tracks that didn't make it. Give a listen to Pearly, Pulo Alto, etc. wont be disappointed

I first listened to this album in 2010 after hearing so much about how beloved and acclaimed it is, and I was really blown away by it as well.
I didn't expect there would be any aggressive riffs or gnarly solos, or even catchy songs, so I was constantly being surprised throughout the whole thing
I first listened to this album like 15 years too late, driving at night along a lonely freeway, not knowing anything about Radiohead except Creep, and it also changed my brain forever. You just cannot prepare yourself for the distraught beauty of this album.
My best friend bought this album when it came out in '97. At his house with some other friends, we partook of some LSD, laid down on his bedroom floor with the lights off, and listened to OK Computer for the first time in its entirety. Exit Music was a whole experience. Life changing.
I saw ween years ago and ate a bunch of mushrooms at the show. The drive home (as a passenger) in the rain, with this playing, was spectacular.😂

No Surprises riff has been my ringtone for the last 5 years. I was your age in the 90's and I while I knew Radiohead, I never really paid much attention to them. I rediscovered them in my late 40's and would now list them in my top 5 bands of all time, mostly because of this perfect album.

Exit Music is from Romeo + Juliet with Leonardo Di Caprio. There are cool music videos for that and Paranoid Android, and Subterranean Homesick Alien. This is such a magical album. I’m glad you enjoy it as much as we do, Radiohead is one of the best bands ever, flawless!
Fitter Happier is based on the Physicist Stephen Hawking, who had ALS and had a voice box computer so he could communicate. Hawking was English and the voice box was made in California, so the English were obsessed that their genius spoke with an American accent. His voice sounded similar to Hawkings, but it was the singer, Thom, speaking through a computer.

Watching your reaction to this reminds me of the first time I played the CD the week it was released. I remember putting it on my home hifi and being absolutely mesmerised. After 2 spins I had to go out and tell anyone who I saw that I’d just heard the greatest rock album of all time. I was right then.

this was a lot of fun to watch :) i saw them many times, id guess around 10 or so. and being a musician who has had a fairly long and eclectic career, i have taken in a wide variety of unforgettable shows over the years. but the 2nd time i saw radiohead - at liberty state park in 2002, 24 years old, with the skyline of manhattan behind the stage - is still the best show ive ever seen (and possibly ever will see). when they played no surprises and thom sang "bring down the government, they dont speak for us" the entire crowd of 30,000 spontaneously roared. it felt like a burst of electricity through the whole park. thom grinned back at us, loving it. later in the set, thom sang like spinning plates with only his piano, and the sound was like shimmering, iridescent waves floating over our heads. one of the most haunting, gorgeous things ive ever heard. no one made a single noise throughout the entire song. to this day ive still never heard such a huge crowd get so quiet.
