Tristram P.G. Amberson Tell that to all those who view movies about a masked vigilante chasing a guy wearing clown make-up to be very serious movies indeed and high art. When you start making a serious movie about a subject that shouldn't be taken seriously you're veering into the pretentious and eventually the ludicrous.
Anyways, however right Ed Wood might have been there are *limits* to everything. Only those in complete denial or those with zero self-insight rationalize their wrongs with overused clichés. How aware Ed Wood really was of the blatant errors in his movies is for the viewer to decide but in reality he just used the first shot to save money on film. One or two errors won't be noticed but a movie full of them will be mocked - even if the plot itself is good (which was hardly the case with Wood's movies).

And they hired a CHOIR DIRECTOR behind the director's back. That is an abuse of creative liberty. Legally you can't POSSIBLY be allowed to make decisions behind the director's back. Everyone knows the director has final say on what goes into the final product. This is blatant disregard of that fact and the perfect example of why I am a non religious Christian. Rules rules rules. All you know is rules. Well there is also freedom and creativity. If you want to challenge creativity. Call me. I'll be nearby.

Allright this is fiction. The personal view of Tim Burton who made fiction about a fiction maker. Anyway, since I saw some real Ed Wood stuff (if the word real means still something) and I can say he really (as above) directed like this... Since Burton (and I think Burton is enough competent to be relatively trusted) showed some credible reasons behind his weird, awful way to direct his movies... and since some of those reasons can hardly be related to his direct responsibility (lack of funding can quit a career before it starts), since all of this... I just wonder how the fuck a man who loves cinematographical art should feel about making shitty movies without even a fee to justify his self torture in keeping to try to do a work he should love, but constantly turns to be a nightmare. I cannot prevent myself from smiling in many occasions looking at Burton's film as at his original movies, but there's something creepy that surrounds this director and his works. It could be considered like a freak's corpse dissection, or, better, autopsy. A freak making an autopsy on his own body desperately searching the reasons why his life departed from his mind... from his own control... while filming this horrific scene without to much filters.
He will be ever remembered as the worst director ever (which, frankly, is exaggerated), or at least the worst famous director of the world. Like a clown. Forever. This should put a light, obviously, on that brilliant monologue he gave to Lugosi in "Bride of the Atom": "Jungle is my home". Recognizable as a scream of horror coming from the conscience of Wood itself looking at the shame his life has come to, and at the same time as a call for vengeance and pride.
One shot. As the Deer Hunter. Then cut and print.
