- Hey I got a simple job. The owner said his water heater did not heat on propane. The burner orifice is clogged so I put a new burner on. Thanks!
We used this video, and we replaced the burner on our 1998 motorhome, we ordered the parts from Ebay. New burner & anode it works perfectly now, cost about $25. Saved about $400. Thank you
That's great to hear!
Great, that simple job would have turned into a nightmare and 15 trips to the suppliers for me. You are so skilled and knowledgable things normally go smoothly. Thank you for sharing these videos to make things easier for me.
Happy trails!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for that video I just found the same problem today.
New burner ordered 👍
Awesome!
Now I found this video! :) I cleaned my burner and brushed the paint flakes of the tank. Then painted the inside of the combustion chamber with grill paint.
Glad I could help!
" I fixed it Yeah" I understand your dilemma with things. I frequently keep things and fix them past the normal life.
Good to know if mine ever goes bad. Very well done. Many thanks.
As always James thanks for the valuable information that will save me money in the long run
Glad to help
How do you adjust the air/gas mixture? The exhaust has soot and a flame comes out of the orifice with soot in the burner tube. Believe an Atwood has an adjustment plate so what do you adjust with a Suburban?
Is the light on the Suburban switch panel supposed to come on when I hit the electric switch? Mine does.
I have my WH connected to 12vdc and 120 AC.. no propane connected. It works 5% of the time.
Possible relay not turning AC on?
I ordered a new control board and replaced it, but the light doesn't come on when I hit the switch. I made sure the outside switch was on.
Replaced everything except the 12 vdc relay for the heating element.
Ok I have this same model and brand new to rvs. So will this water heater also work on electric only? I can’t get mine to work at all so trying to start narrowing it down.
I have same water heater SW10DE but need to change gas valve and outlet manifold tube that connects valve to burner with those brass 1/4 inch nuts ? Do you need to flare new tubing ? I am puzzled how to install new tube from gas valve to burner.
shouldn't need a new tube, just make sure you don't lose the orifice if you have an older water heater pre 1999ish
Just the information I needed to remove a clogged burner tube for cleaning! Alcohol flushed out a bunch of tiny carbon flakes. Replaced burner and voila!
Happy to hear it helped!
Question… I have the same hot water heater and it was working fine I ran out of propane and now it won’t light… Could it be the burner needs to be replaced? I check the igniter it’s working
U
Mine is causing a small explosion if you will from the gas coming out but not igniting. We can hear it go poof after the click and the gas isn’t getting to where it needs to go by the time the ignition spark goes on. One time I got it to work and we found get any hot water still. Please help with some suggestions - thank you !
Definitely difficult to say. It really does not take much more than a single spider web inside the burner tube or orifice to prevent ignition. I'd need to know quite a bit more about the RV and model water heater you had to begin to guess. Thanks!
AZ Expert , it is a Suburban SW model , propane only. It has been working now but occasionally it poofs and is definitely unnerving .
@@bedwards733 The flame should be blue and there should not be any soot in the exhaust. If it's more yellow flame and dirty then there is a propane/air mixture issue.
And it sounds good 😊
Thank you!
I know that this is probably a dead video, but does anyone know the part number?
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the information..
You are welcome.
