Did he really tell me to back off?

Was I too close? I didn't think so.
A fellow cycling commuter told me to back off or have I interpreted it wrong?
I was riding on the A20 into Lewisham on a crisp cold morning on my London commute. This cyclist overtook me and then complained that I was riding too close.
