  • This week its back to Darley Moor in Derbyshire for the HAUS RT Summer Special Crit.
After my last outing and a tenth place in the Melton Olympic CC Crit in Leicester, I'm confident that I can build on that on a track which I know very well.
The race starts in cold and wet conditions, but the rain soon stops and the track starts to dry out. But yet again, my race is marred by another crash right in front of me and me asking how I managed to avoid the fallen rider.
This feels like it could be over for my love affair with crit racing.

Keep going mate like I said you will get your cat 3. It’s at times like this when you push through the next level is achieved and all this becomes valuable knowledge 👍

Cheers Lee, I feel a bit better about things today, but still have reservations. I’ve had a lot of messages from fellow riders and it’s been so supportive, especially as I felt like a complete fraud for the rest of the day after pulling out of the race, I felt like I wasn’t giving the Velo Bavarian badge the respect it deserves.

The first move that caused the crash was that guy moving off his line to the inside. Then he turns around and throws up his hand like it was the other guys fault. I did some crit racing when I was younger and had a blast but I didn't do it for very long. It doesn't prove anything and how well you do is all up to chance. Not worth destroying expensive equipment and body injury. I moved on to cross country mountainbike racing which was more my thing anyway.
