    picked up a crystal on sale for $90 and wanted to make it my first modded stick, just turn this thing into an absolute frankenstein. wanted to say this vid is amazing, not too long, covers all the bases, all the vernacular is there so i dont feel lost. super stoked to get my pieces and put everything together!

    the key is using the quanba shaft. it's longer than the sanwa shaft. I used the Kowal Oversize Actuator with the sanwa octagonal gate.

    This is a very interesting video!! OMG I've done all the button switches, but never knew you could retain the Qanba housing for the LED joystick, doing this change immediately! Thanks!

      I'm pretty sure Qanba donated this because they liked his RUclips channel. He received it free from them.

    Managed to pick up a crystal for 75CAN$ - less than 60USD. I'll probably spend the money I save and sanwa parts and voilà: badass stick

    After performing this mod, i noticed the jlf/qanba hybrid lever not properly registering down diagonals, and the response time, especially for crouches, being less-than optimal. There was a lag possibly due to the slight offset of the sanwa actuator and switches when being fit into the qanba pivot. I remedied this by replacing the stock sanwa jlf actuator with a spare hori hayabusa actuator i had lying around, though i suspect any
    .5 mil oversized jlf actuator like the kind they sell on paradise arcade shop or focus attacks’s kowal actuator would work. It’s because the hayabusa actuator is slightly oversized. Though not effecting the throw, the switches definitely engage faster after the actuator swap.

    • @colossus808e
      @colossus808e 2 года назад +1

      Update; not long sfter installing these switch mods, actually ended up returning the lever and buttons back to stock, to stay true to Qanba’s original tuning; it feels the best.

    • @Shockking21
      @Shockking21 Год назад

      @@colossus808ewould it be worth it just to replace the qanba spring with a JLF spring since ive read the qanba one is quite a bit lower resistance than the sanwa standard 2lb one which i don't think i will love. im hopefully getting a crystal today so ive been looking into what mods i might want to do.

    • @colossus808e
      @colossus808e Год назад

      @@Shockking21 lemme feel both right now….ok. I barely a difference in pivot feel between the stock qanba lever and spring versus a stock sanwa lever and spring. They both run 1lb springs stock, I believe.

    So since I'm getting the Crystal myself, I have a question about the buttons: Is it possible to transfer the led board from a Qanba button to, say, a sanwa button? Asking just in case if there's a way to replace the whole button but keep the led by transfering instead of just switching the Microswitch (based on the video).

    If one had no interest in maintaining LED function, would it be possible to mod this normally? For instance, just mount the JLF in its entirety to the panel and connect the 5-pin connector while ignoring any LED-related PCBs or wiring?

      GaijinMo yes, someone please confirm! I have a dead q2 and just ordered the crystal. I heard it doesn’t have sanwa parts so I’m going to swap the two. I care none for the led. I was actually relieved when I found out there was an option to turn it off.

  • @kevinnava822
    @kevinnava822 Год назад

    I did the sanwa lever mod + phreakmods ex groove adapter, I had to leave the qanba actuator because the sanwa was giving me wrong diagonals, now it works but some time the stick makes a sound like something is stuck and then it works normal, it doesn't feel as smooth as the stock jlf so basically feels the same as stock qanba but quieter.

    • @kevinnava822
      @kevinnava822 9 месяцев назад

      Update: some months ago I took out the led PCB from the qanba lever and placed it on top of the stock jlf with phreakmods mod and it's way better than before.

      First you need a big enough flathead, you can twist with both to loosen it then you unscrew the ball top from the top. It should take a lot of force to remove a ball top

    • @HurtboxTV
