It is beautiful when bits of information start to hang together and we can get a glimpse of the world of the early Christians. Everything gets so much more relatable! Thank you for this conversation!

My two favorite OT books are the Wisdom of Solomon, and Tobit. Tobit, in particular, is a beautiful composition (especially those based on Jerome's Vulgate) which encompasses virtually all human experiences. It explains the "brothers" and "sisters" as used in ancient Israel. It can be read in a single setting, and always rewards.

It’s interesting that it’s said the Church doesn’t follow the Bible and yet the Canon of the Bible came out of the Church! Along with that the Scriptures are read at every Mass without change but along with the Apostolic Tradition that’s been handed down since the beginning!

Protestantism was founded on the human ego. Thus, the individual is the final authority. Oddly, that individual cannot tolerate differing beliefs in others.
