But honestly, I'm more worried about the economic storm brewing in our backyard. Rent prices are skyrocketing, wages are stagnant, and 'shrink-flation' is the icing on the cake. On a personal note, I'm looking to invest $100k in a non-retirement account , need guide on the best strategies to consider?
For the time being, I would stay away from index funds, mutual funds, and particular stocks. The best option available at the moment is a five percent fixed income. Set aside funds for when the market begins to recover significantly.

About the president's role, it is not only "defusing bombs" that is from a hollywood senario : If I understand the game, the heads of the Federal Reserve (1'50) are appointed by the president only on paper, not in reality, as the Fed being a private company, has full controle over its own activities and decisions...
It is just that it must look "state owned" for the public. I hope though that this is no longer a scoop to anyone reading ;-) Unless it changed recently, as far as I know, the Federal Reserve even decide how much money they want to "edit" and hand out to the us gov, but not "give" : Sell, because it is money with an interest rate... That makes all the difference.
Hence the gigantic domestic debt, that every tax payer is struggling to help reimburse, which turns out to be mathematically impossible (It is far too big). Unfortunate ? It is just the strategy to maintain every citizen chained in the rat race, to their work, running helplessly to fuel the game further. The bigger picture is more complex than suggested in this video.
