Rabbits eating greens is what even Disney knowledged
Rule of thumb: if they show animal diets in a cartoon, do the exact opposite.
Rabbits are so cute. But here in Australia rabbits are actually illegal to keep as pets ($71,000 fine!😆). As they're considered a pest that costs our country 200 million per year in environmental costs. I get it, but I do miss seeing them as a kid.
My bun doesn't like carrots really, he'll nibble it and then ignore it until it would go mouldy. So I don't bother.. but I know for a fact that if I was growing them he would eat all the carrot tops before I manage to harvest them ! 😅 Bunnies notoriously LOVE expensive garden flowers 😮🤣 The Cemetary Buns eat a lot of flowers left on graves 🤭😬
Huh, I always thought rabbits only ate grass as a last resort, choosing anything elss if they could, because they were so ineffective at extracting nutrition from it (hence the eating it multiple times issue).
I can see we don't want diabetic rabbits, but I'm surprised grass/straw is the recommended staple. Thanks for this.
Unlike Bugs Bunny rabbits do not eat the orange part of the vegetable even though you give it to them. They much prefer the greens. Rabbits will not voluntarily eat high starch foods. They eat grass and hay, and green vegetables. They do have a sweet tooth so they love rasins and bananas in strick moderation.
