David talking on NPR about his long admiration of Steely Dan & how this collaboration came about when he met Donald. Pretty funny story. ruclips.net/video/cyRuQAtfQZg/видео.html
That very interview is what brought me here. Actually, I typed in, "Steely Dan-Wooden Ships", and here I am listening to it as I'm typing this reply. Beautiful.
This version is a great blend of Steely Dan sensibilities, complete with horn section, with one of the more Steely-esque CSN songs...A match made in music heaven. Wooden Ships is the one of best CSN songs...
David Crosby with Steely Dan, the voice, the arrangements, drums, bass, keys, horns and guitars are just excellent. Honey for our ears and for our souls!
Just might be better than the original...OMG, those fat horns, the layers, and those incredible keyboards...loving this at 4 in the morning with a good yuengling lager and the house to myself.
I was at this show at the Beacon with my two grown sons. Donald started talking about how they were trying out a new California guitar play. When he called Crosby to the stage the whole place erupted for several minutes before they could start this kick ass version of Wooden Ships. My sons loved it too. Crosby came back out at the end of the show for the encore.
@@sergeruffles1380 … uh, what the fuck are you talking about? Wooden Ships, Why, Guinnevere, Deja-Vu, Croz co-wrote many, many more with the Byrds and CSN… You’re an idiot if you actually believe that! He wrote many iconic songs…
Speechless. Dan is incredible with this, and Croz does his all-time best performance of this wondrous song at 77 years old. UNBELIEVABLE! What a gift. Appreciate it
Damn.. Never heard of this until today! Big CSN & SD fan & had no idea of this great collaboration! To top it off, Wooden Ships my fav CSN song. There must be a video of this magical melding somewhere!!

Met him and his wife and his child before the show at Caesars they were walking past my shop door which is beneath the theater what a magical moment them singing together will remember for the rest of my life what a great talent and loss.
When I was a senior in high school my friend and neighbor wore the first CSN album COMPLETELY out....... and every other album that followed 😁🎹🎵🎤‼️ Then came along the Can't Buy a Thrill album and I'm afraid 😳 WE did the same to it....
Is that Jon Herrington on guitar (with the tone-rolled back, Stephen Stills-like) ? This sounds great. I'd Run to see this Show = Steely Dan & David Crosby !!!
This is so fantastic!!! One of my very favorites. Listened to this song and the album so much back in the day. Takes me back to better times when I was a (not so) innocent kid. Such fantastic music in those days! CSN&Y were one of the very best of then and any time! Thank God they are all still all with us! Thank you for your timeless music! It WAS the very best!🙏❤️

Wow what a great mix. Elements of two of my favorite all time groups it doesn't get better than this. Crosby still has his vocal chops what a treat yes!!!!!
Un-flocking-believable. Fagen's horn arrangement... The backing vocals... and the faithful reproduction of the original arrangement. Mind is boggled and bumping into itself trying to wrap around the sound. Must be a mix directly from the board. Donald: Thx for your contribution to this. Raised it up to a whole 'nuther level. Would not surprise me if Croz's inner voice, during the final measures of this live arrangement/performance, was saying "FINALLY!!!" 'Finally' indeed, Croz... Bless you always, and rest well. You've so earned it. PS to Saltspicious: would be nice to know the names of all the players who contributed to this performance...Thx for posting in any event.
Wow, what a stupendous and glorious version with two incredible bands. WOW! Thank you for sharing this incredible feast for the ears. How to make a classic even better... just had some horns a la Steely Dan.
