I was at this show at the Beacon with my two grown sons. Donald started talking about how they were trying out a new California guitar play. When he called Crosby to the stage the whole place erupted for several minutes before they could start this kick ass version of Wooden Ships. My sons loved it too. Crosby came back out at the end of the show for the encore.

Jon Herrington on guitar. I agree about the horns.

@@tcm6756 Jon Herrington is brilliant, i am a big Steely Dan fan and know his work well, he has the Stephen Stills sound perfect, he has had to emulate a lot of different stiles over the years so he is a master at this,

Maybe because Kantner is a co-writer of the song.

Love this!..I always thought the guitar sounded like it's being played underwater, and then the rest of the instruments come in crisply, on top of it, in perfect contrast..Just a great, unique sound!..Then, of course, the harmonies..All around great song..May be my favorite from CSN.

Always wondered what guitar Steven Stills played on that. Same on Deja Vu.

I believe he rolls-the-tone knob back, to give it that sound. Signature Stephen Stills tone. I love it too.
