While not having as much name recognition I think Black Milk is another incredible sample based producer who uses Micro Chopping as the primary technique. 9th and dilla are my favorites but he's up there.
I like how at times the zoom’s and repeats feel like you’re finding the sampling points while the video is edited. I hope you get as much out of this as we do. You’re a sampling technique librarian. Thanks!

Great, I think there’s 2 parts in 9th wonder career till now, the FuityLoops (FL studio) era and MPC or any other pads based device, in the former he used to reconstruct his own loop from chords and low end sounds and uses/used micro chopes in the latter where the chops are on the kick and the snare and find his own groove, this is the hardest part, if you look closely, his drums patterns follow exactly the drums pattern from the played sample,.
@@chriscash782 Can't go wrong with that! My favorites always vary, but I think Dilla won't move outta number 1 because I am emotionally attached to it lol
Super random but, did you sample Toro Y Moi "Rose Quartz" on "Ride 4 me"??? The vox sounds the same to me. Toro y Moi is 🔥 and if you did sample it you did it justice. The beat is gas!
9th Wonder is credited, so yee I still prefer the beat over the song. I think the Flute/Sax thing takes away from the mood of the beat. But the vocal is great
Love your videos but why skip between the sample and the final beat once you’ve shown the patterns? Personally I want to hear the completed puzzle alone but I’m interested in your reason
Early on people really liked it that way because it proved that the chops sounded the way I showed. Meaning I can't do some editing and "fake" the video. It showed that I truly break them beats down and try to get them to sound as close as possible to the beat. Also sometimes (rarely) it helps me with copyright and it has also helped when a video would be blocked... for example if I were to breakdown MJ the video would get 1000% blocked, because you can't just use MJ in your video, even if you give them the copyright money. I stopped doing this A/B thing because after much discussion people prefer I don't do it. If you see them it is only on compilations that include older videos, I stopped doing it for a good 4 months now :)
I've done enough 9th wonder breakdowns to notice patterns and habits he has when chopping samples. I've done one essay video about what I found the most interesting, but I should do another one going through his main chopping habits.
Him and Phonte have said in interviews he doesn't just sample the main sound you hear in a sample he is sampling the sound behind a sound in a sample since most of his sample choices are a mix of several sounds in one chop. Big Remo says he does micro chops. Thee Tom Hardy told me personally he puts the swing up all the way on FL studio when making beats. Maybe not all the time but often.
This is VOL 2!!
So of course there is a Vol 1 in my channel!

Fl Studio... I prefer Ableton's interface for sampling, but I've been tied to Fl for so long that I can't see myself ever switching 100%
