I used to work at the combat helicopter place (SES) next door to the Dunlop Proving grounds as a mechanical engineer2 years ago. Was always cool to take a walk outside and see them out there testing stuff. The track being in the woods is pretty cool.
Og Gees factory race spec tires Dumblop is actually going to sell . After all the years of lying to us. I think I will just stick with Hoosiers HMXSPEC.
@vitalmx yes for Years They made everyone beleive they were selling the same tires the Pro's raced. Anyone that knows Motocross of the last 20 to 30 years. Knows that Dumblop never sold the Compounds they raced with. But. What did they do last Outdoor season. The Factory Race Teams Cuts the knobs to get better traction .
Sounds like they're trying to compete with the Hoosiers albeit, the Dunlop brand is much more popular in general. I run the Hoosiers on my MC350F & they are outstanding on hardpack, but just about par for the course on anything else. The MX14 is better in the sand, too.
Having tested both, this would be our preference. The carcass on the Hoosier is quite soft. To get similar hold up under high loads, you have to run a high PSI level in the Hoosier, and the wear is high.
You don’t have to be on a ktm to buy one but you sure as shit have to pay ktm prices. Rough. I wonder if I can get them directly from Dunlop….. have to make a call. Ktm scrambling to make every dollar they can eh?
Dunlop won’t have any to distribute to amateur supported riders for the first year. We asked. Example, if Drew Adams on Team Geen wanted a set, Team Green would have to buy them from a KTM dealer.
@ I am not adverse to spending money nor adverse to exotic parts. It’s a little odd that it’s exclusive through ktm dealers though. But thank you for asking all those questions for us. You really covered those bases well dude. You make good points at the end and I appreciate you for going over them as that would have been my exact concerns. Crossover between practice bikes and when your toasting is a set of tires in week these new ones would require me to double my budget for rubber. That being said I can afford a few more bucks for a nicer front that I’m used to on race day and buy a tire specific for race day. Good reporting sir 🤙🏻👊🏻
Keefer is going to be in heaven. Haha! Got availability of spec tires to consumers finally.
He looked to be in heaven

They flew a Blackhawk in and out off the faculty while we were there yesterday! Osprey came in as well.
Production good enough for me. I might pay more for production tire with yellow letters though lol.
It’s actually just a sticker.
@@vitalmx where can a feller find said sticker?
Dunlops the best
Definitely going to buy a set eventho I’m only a vet b guy lol. Just be cool to try them out once. Not often you can get your hands as a spec tire
Worth it to give them a shot
I might have to try those. I been running Hoosiers for years because they are the only manufacturer that offered a spec tire.
Pretty F****** Dope!
Will be interesting on the stark
Fox raceway vet track is about see thousands of spec tires this weekend 😂😂
Na. Lol cost to much for what they are and having to get through KTM sucks. Screw ktm
would it be worth it for herescrambles on the east coast
Hmmm, I’ve can’t say. Seems to be conditions more suited to Dunlop’s AT-82
@vitalmx I was thinking AT82 in the rear and one of those spec tires up front
I usually run an AT82 rear and a MX34 front. I'm definitely thinking about doing one of the factory fronts for my next tire.
Are the yellow letters just die-cut stickers on the side, or are they painted letters?
Stickers.
I miss the mullet
It looks like the stiffer tire is going to be no fun to mount!
But does it have the yellow letters 😂
Sadly no :(
We can get yellow paint pens
KTM dealer only? What about a GAS GAS Dealer since it’s owned by KTM?
Yes, GasGas and Husky dealers will have them as well.
Screw KTM. Having to get them only via them blows, but im sure that will change and the cost will go down.
Overall it gives you more feedback tire can take heavy loads and better grip and lighter
Now everyone gets to cut Factory Spec Tires just like the Race Teams did. When they were not getting the traction they needed.

Sad SOLD whole production to KTM
@@Mine-z6w KTM pushed for this idea and got first year dibs for their involvement and committing to paying for the first full batch.
Or just buy Hoosier

Why wouldn’t Dunlop just make the better tire and drop the bullshit tires
Did you not hear them say they are handmade thats probably why
Because the cost associated with making this tire and the additional wear / reduced lifespan doesn’t make it ideal for all consumers.

This makes me sad. I am upset
How so?
@ dont ask. I dont want to make you upset or sad like me.
