He said he didn't feel the need to force his way out of it since Izzy wasn't doing damage. And that Izzy was just tiring himself out. And why he didn't go for the kneebar and decided to let go.
As a big Poatan fan I actually agree with everything you said. He's an extremely talented and hardworking fighter, he's got the talent, the wit, the grit, the grind and some of the skill to be great. The issue is that grappling is very complex and difficult to learn overnight, and he made his transition into MMA a bit late, as a general result of his late introduction to the martial arts at the age of 23. I'm not sure he'll be able to overcome highly skilled well rounded fighters like Rob or specialized high skill grapplers like Chimaev, but I still appreciate what he has been able to accomplish with the opportunities he was given.
@@fangiscool1 Yes, which shows that he was interested in MMA before he even knew Izzy. He went back to Kickboxing due to being ripped off by Walid (Costa and Figgy former manager). Plus he had the chance to fight for the belt in Glory.

Learned a lot from this. That 112 where the second jab turns into a peel looks like money. And israel put ALL of himself into that left hook in round 1. Love to seeit
Tall lanky fighters with long limbs can generate a lot of power. Good examples are Tommy Hearns, Wilder. They instinctively know how to use their leverage to generate power. Izzy could too but his mechanics have to change and at this point of this career it’s unlikely for him to change that

Henry I can’t wait for your assessment of their strengths and weaknesses the same way you broke down Vera vs Sandhagen. I see a lot of holes in his game that are often exploited in the fight and is saved by his size in the fights. I agree Izzy lost out on an opportunity to take his back and probably finish the fight. Interested to see changes that CKB and Izzy bring into the next fight. Both are elite strikers.
Analysis is on the money IMO. Power is the great equalizer, along with great striking technique and favorable matchups (also aided by his trolling outside the cage) that is why Poatan is champ now. In fact, that is where Henry's 3T analysis could use another axis... KO power. Threshold is mostly genetic, you max it out with training to your genetic level. See Colby. Exceptions like Till exist. If you have one category for a genetic ability (threshold) you can have 2, one for KO power. A lot of genetics in the other 2 also. Cruz, CCC, JJ, GSP, Anderson... tactics (fight IQ) they are all top 1% of UFC athletes. But KO Power needs to start with a T. Thunder Terminal Touch I like thunder, but terminal or touch also work, and it's a proper t sound for them. So for terminal/touch/thunder, Alex gets a 10, Izzy probably gets a 9 IMO. Mark Hunt 10. CCC is devastating because he has high values in all 4. (Same with other GOATs.)
Pound for pound, Whittaker is the best middleweight and has been for a long time. Adesanya has been a size bully for awhile using that insane reach advantage but the first fight against someone his size he loses

Nah, there's more money to be made in MMA. I don't see how he would have a career bad enough for him to go back to kickboxing . Even if he goes on to lose to every wrestler he fights, the UFC will probably start to just give him strikers for him to have some FOTN bangers. His name is already big, the UFC wouldn't want to waste his potential
