While it's sad that the country ripped up a lot of rail, the CMRR is running from Kingston west to Stony Hollow, a couple of miles from Glenford Dike, where the excursion trip went. It's a really nice ride and (as of this year, 2019), is happening several times every weekend: @t has the details.

The county didn't think the train could reach the reservoir. They proved them wrong.

At present, Ulster County is poised to remove all the rail along the reservoir. This includes the 1.1 mile section from Stony Hollow to the Glenford Dike. If they rip out the rails, there will be no trains to the Glenford Dike. There is an effort by CMRR and supporters to save this section of the rail to make such a trip possible in the future. We'll see what the Legislature does. They must approve any rail removal.

Looped audio? Personally I was more interested in the loco than the scenery but it was beautiful.

Why doesn't someone contact the President and let him in on the misfortunes of ALL your hard work. He happens to be an enormous admirer of the Catskills and has
spent lots of time there. Political clout on the highest level couldn't hurt after ALL your amazing hard work and what this would do for the region.

If the trains were being used to the extent of profitability, they wouldn’t be ripped up. How much tax money are you willing to spend on nothing?

Instead of riding around and taking pictures, some of those volunteers need to tighten up loose joint bars.
