Awesome video. Many memories! I’m a retired locomotive railroad guy….. in 1974 the first loco I worked on was an RS 1 Alco.
1000 HP. The sound they make….so cool to see again … thanks for posting 👍👍😎

I vaguely remember the #401 being on the Green Mountain Railroad back then, until they received their first EMD GP9. Now, their only ALCO is their #405, used for tourists attractions, operating between Bellows Falls, VT and the depot at Chester.
Until 1983, the GMRC used their ALCO S-4, #305, in Keene, NH, after the Boston and Maine surrendered operations, making tri-weekly runs south on the B&M'S "Ashuelot Branch" to "Dole Junction in southern Hinsdale, NH, then, shoving the trains NW to Brattleboro, VT.

I LOVE this railroad. Beautiful scerery, VERY friendly crew !!! Every time we are visiting Kingston, we ride the railroad. There is the Best Western right at the PRW and I also enjoy watching the trains pass. Kingston is a hidden treasure. My cousin just bought a house so i have more reason to visit. I hope the PRW will be extended to the reservoir.

At around 19:20 minutes, the train will be crossing the river on a Lattice Truss bridge, very commonly used on the GMRC, now a part of the Vermont Rail System.

As much as their spot in Kingston is cool I miss it when it was in Phoenicia

I would agree. I believe Kingston does give them a slightly longer ride (and maybe more potential ridership), but the line out of Phoenicia is definitely more scenic.
Based on what’s possible now, I’d do it with a year-round Kingston-West Hurley train, providing a service carrying trail riders between Kingston and the ART trailhead during the busy summer months, and a fall foliage train out of Phoenicia to Cold Brook while the Rail Explorers rail bikes would continue to operate during the summer. Themed trains would also operate out of Kingston year-round.

They need to do a little vegetation control.

Why kill the weeds? They give the prototypical appearance of the Milwaukee Road in Washington state on both the main line and branches!
