- In this episode, I talk about division that exists within Christianity and whether or not it matters which denomination a Christian belongs to or if it is enough to just be a follower of Jesus.

But, did Jesus found any denomination? Did he plan for people to meet in large sanctuaries and have priests, bishops, cardinals, and popes? Did he want people to follow standard forms of worship?
Or, did he want people to meet in small groups? And simply read the Old Testament and talk about how to better follow the principles he laid out in his sermons?
Remember that Jesus said that whenever two or three people are gathered in his name, he will be there. That didn't sound like a mandate to attend a mass every week.
Let's also remember that Jesus did not plan to start a new religion. I think he planned for his followers to adopt the traditions of Judaism, while incorporating his teachings and communion and celebrating his resurrection.
Perhaps the Roman Catholic Church and every Protestant denomination has somehow veered off the path intended for his followers.
I don’t think so, because Christ himself established a hierarchy for his Church and this is found in Scripture.

@@kentfrederick8929 The bible doesn't teach that you are free to interpret it as you see fit...and that wasn't taught until the Protestant Reformation....1600 years later. Common sense should cause that fact to give someone pause. Peter warns that someone with your attitude of "what you see fit" can lead to your destruction (2 Peter 3). You might think about something else...you might be a descendant of Martin Luther and his man-made inventions like sola scriptura and sola fide, , but the Catholic Church is a descendant of Christ Himself...He founded it...not a human like Lutheranism and Methodism 1500-1700 years later.
Of course He established one visible church here on earth! “On earth as it is in heaven!”
The kingdom of God is 1 untied family, the last thing He’d want is for us to be divided amongst each other - look at all the disruption amongst just 2 divisions of political parties in our government and how that same disruption is reflected among the thousands of Protestant denominations who have conflicting foundational beliefs and practices.
As a fellow Catholic who attends church regularly, there are a couple of things that I am worried about in our Catholic practice. And that is praying to the saints and Virgin Mary for intercession. Jesus prayed to our Father in Heaven and he gave no instructions to pray to anyone else, so I can't find any justification for the Catholic practice of praying to the saints when we can pray directly to our Heavenly Father, as Jesus taught us. How do we as Catholics reconcile this using the Bible, not church doctrine?
I would also like an answer to this question.

If you understand what a church is, you would know it does not have a denomination.
Church, or Ekklesia is a gathering of people of one mind in Jesus.
It doesn't matter where they meet, scripture points to a preferred way of meeting and that is to meet in a dwelling place, a house.
A church (as a building) is professed to be a dwelling place for God, it is not appointed as such. A house that contains the minds of those who are one-minded with Jesus is the dwelling place for God, he dwells in the minds of those who have a heart that takes after him.
Don't get mixed up what a church means, this is important.

I grew up catholic even wanted to be a nun at some point after the sudden loss of my father I wonder why God had abandoned me, never returned to Catholic Church, for years follow different Yoruba religions and now evangelical but I’m beginning to wonder as my fathers words are always echoes in the back of my mind …. Pray and ask God to guide you. Don't go back because of your emotions. A priest cannot forgive you of your sins. I was a Catholic many, many years ago. IF a priest can forgive you of your sins, then why did Jesus have to die on a cross for you? Pray and ask The Lord to guide you.

My problem is that if you claim that the Catholic church has been given direct authority from Jesus, then such a church would have to be flawless and never do evil. But we know, undoubtedly, that the Catholic church had done evil and a lot of it.
That is because humans do evil.
I was raised Catholic, but Catholicism is one of the main things that pushed me away from God some ten years ago. Now somewhat more mature, I'm studying the Bible and trying to find my way back, but nothing changed about my perception of the Catholic Church. Priests refuse to baptise babies because they dislike something or someone in the family as well as maliciously refuse to let children have their first communion because they arrived ten minutes late because of traffic jams. Also, who said that we were supposed to sit down in a small cabin with a weirdly suspicious guy once a week and tell him all the bad stuff we did, otherwise we can't have the communion? I haven't found it in the Bible yet, and I'm looking carefully.
They say that Jesus gave them absolute and divine authority, but I simply can't agree because I've seen them being malicious and proud and full of themselves, and that simply doesn't sound like Jesus, does it? And just a quick look into the history confirms it. The Catholic Church has done undeniable evil.
Now, I understand that this isn't all Catholics, and I still believe that Catholics are Christians and that Jesus sees them that way, but you will have a hard time convincing me that The Catholic Church has divine authority directly from Jesus. My experience and history say otherwise.

The catholic church has done objective evil. Murder, genocide, theft, abuse and oppression... the list goes on.
And for sure, a good amount of high ranking members of the the church today and in past never even believed in Jesus and simply exploited their position for power.
These things we know are true.
I could understand a few mishaps here and there. Some reasonable mistakes. At that point, you could really say that the apostles and their successors weren't perfect, but that simply isn't enough when we consider all the evil of Catholic church.

Logically speaking, it cannot matter which denomination you chose as long as it does not contradict the bible. Consider this:
Matthew 7:14 "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." this directly implies that it is difficult to go the right way. But is it difficult because it's difficult to know who is right? Or is it difficult simply because it's difficult to stay true to faith?
If it's difficult because we don't know who is right, then this would not only directly imply that all major denominations are incorrect by default, it would also imply that we are basically forced to guess which denomination or sect is correct. This however is unjust, so this is not something god would do.
Therefore, the road to life is narrow, simply because it is arduous and few can follow it. But it is obvious in your heart, god will not trick you to take a wrong turn. Follow your heart to which denomination seems right. And check with your brain that their teachings do not contradict what Jesus said or what's in the bible.
As long as you are pure of heart, you will not go wrong.
It matters for you to recieve sacrament the grace you will not recieve in other denominations

I have come to love that expresses that fullness. I did not grow up on that Mass but I have come to know and love the Latin Mass.

I think that the Catholic Church was being corrupted in early history. For example idolatry was brought into the Church. It was now called worshipping saints. To be obedient to God, we must study his Word. After that I would pray and ask God help me find a church.

Classical Protestantism (Anglican, Lutheran, Reformed) doesn’t teach denominationalism or “multiple churches). It very clearly teaches that there is only ONE true church and Christ is its head. It also affirms that a follower of Jesus must identify with his visible church. It is not optional. Protestantism employs the term “Holy Catholic Church” throughout its historic theological formularies. It also very clearly spells out the identifying marks of a true church of Christ (in a local setting such as a congregation or parish) and the marks of a false church. So the argument with our Romanist friends is not is there is only one true church (Protestantism is in full agreement there) but rather in it’s visible expression, how do you recognize it. Rome makes the exclusivist and sectarian claim that it alone is the true church and classical Protestantism never seats Christ’s Church within the bounds of one particular Christian tradition. Protestants believe themselves to be Catholic and clearly reject the notion that the term Catholic is owned by Rome.

But what about the heresies which afflict the modern Catholic Church and many other Christian Denominations? Many parishes' and diocese' embrace sinful pride and radical politics in place of God's Word.

There are 7 different churches mentioned in Revelation 2-3 alone. No mention of these churches being under the authority of the bishops of Rome. Paul also founded churches where he never mentions them being under the authority of any bishop of Rome.
Should we consider these churches not be in unity since there is no pope to unify them?
If you look up the history of the Fathers,. Really look it up and research, you will find that from the beginning the other Churches gave authority to the seat of Peter, which was the bishop of Rome. To understand the Bible, you need to see it in the historical content. History leaves no doubt that the Roman bishop has authority over the rest just as Peter was the head of the Apostles ( The Rock)

1- Peter never claimed to be the supreme leader of the entire church.
2- The apostles never claimed he was the supreme leader of the church.
3- The papacy (supreme bishop leader of the entire church) is never mentioned as a church office in any of the offices of the church described in the New Testament. See I Corinthians 12:28-29; Ephesians 2:20-21, 3:11; I Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9

Just because Peter does not say directly in Scripture that he is the head of the Church in Christ's absence ( Jesus said it) several Church Fathers did and they were a lot closer to the accounts of history than you or I were. John said, in regards to Jesus, all the books in the world could not contain what he said. How much more can be said of the Apostles? I have spent decades reading what the Church Fathers said and came into full communion with the Catholic church nine years ago at the age of 60. It took overwelming evidence to convince me. I used to teach apologetics at YWAM in Tyler Texas. I am not ignorant of the Scriptures although there is always more to learn than I ever will in the years left to me.

Since they said nothing, then he was not thee head of the church. Not only that, there is no office of a supreme bishop (pope) ever mentioned in any of the leadership positions in the church. No mention of any bishop of Rome being the leaders of the entire church either.

Jesus taught his followers only one religion, the true religion. It is like a road leading to everlasting life. Jesus said: "Few are finding" that road. (Matthew 7:14) God accepts only worship based on his Word of truth. All true worshippers are united in one faith. ---John 4:23, 24; 14:6; Ephesians 4:4, 5.
Repent of your sins and Recieve Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Read His word. Pray to the Father.

The unholy and corrupt Roman Catholic Church says God's "Sacred Scripture...cannot stand without" Rome's "sacred Tradition" or its "Magisterium," which also "contribute...to the salvation of souls."(Catechism of the Catholic Church #95)
If you are a Roman Catholic you are lost!

That would be correct. You need the three pillars of the Scripture, Tradition and Magisterium for the Church to stand and for souls to be saved.
Protestants are lost. Martin Luther removed 7 books from the Bible and all protest denominations don’t have them.

It is only logical that there would be one true religion. This is in harmony with the fact that the true God is a God, "not of disorder, but of peace." 🤔 I am a revert back to the Catholic Church after 40 years of trying many different denominations as I truly believe this is the one true Church that was started by Jesus. I am studying more and more to learn my Faith as I am a cradle Catholic. I can’t really say I was “raised” in a Catholic home. I went to a Catholic School but my parents did not instill Catholic values in our home.
That being said, I do know that we have had “good” popes and “bad” popes in the past, as they are still a man with a fallen nature. I have to say that the pope today can be very confusing; he gives his opinion on different things that can be misleading at times to say the least. I struggle with this so I handle it by praying for all leaders in the Catholic Church and for their salvation as well as my own. 🙏✝️🙏
The Pope is not a perfect human being, he can make personal comments that are flawed. However, the Pope is guided by the Holy Spirit from changing the Church doctrine from error that has lasted for over 2,000 years.

BTW-doctrines have changed in your church. Your popes have not always had infallibly.
@@Justas399 there is corruption in ALL denominations. I went to many different non-Catholic churches in the past and it always amazed me how many myths fly around about the Catholic Church. When I came back to the Catholic Church I went to RCIA to start my journey back and I met a Protestant that was in the class. She had no intention on converting but she wanted to see for herself if the things she heard about Catholicism were true. I have so much respect for someone willing to do that instead of just believing everything she heard. I just don’t believe that Jesus meant for there to be over 30,000 different denominations who all have different answers to what scripture means.

You should read Revelation 2-3 on the warnings Christ gives to churches that are not faithful to Him. This is what has happened to the RCC. Just look at its bishops and popes that cover up evil and do not denounce it.
"churches" (with lower letters) in Revelations does not mean a denomination, but a city where the Church is. Also, even in the group of the Apostles there was a traitor. So what you're saying makes no sense, besides being a protestant biased account of the facts.
You can say that about every single Christian church tho just look at all the scandals the southern Baptist church is trying to cover up now, it's just the media paints this picture that these evils only happen in the Catholic church
