Cool little grinder Don, thanks for the tour. I picked up a Harig 618 Slicer that has all of its hydraulics disassembled. Should be a good project to learn about grinders; looking forward to see your next video on this fine machine. Also liking the idea of a podcast!
@@DonDyarprecision Thanks Don, it's a neat little machine that will be fun to clean up. I had no idea what it was either, was just happy to know it could be used like a normal surface grinder. If the hydraulics are too far gone, it's my understanding that it will work well as a manual machine.
Well dang Don ! What else do you have hiding down there! Haha. Just kidding. That’s gotta the perfect size grinder for my little shop. I’ve plum run out of room in the shop, but I’ve been looking at Surface Grinders since before I drug home the tool and cutter grinder. That’s one of the cleanest and nice looking ones I’ve seen. I’m looking forward to seeing some of your tips and tricks on that one. Hope you and Rob are doing well. And I hope you had a good thanksgiving sir.
I have been working on clearing that area out for a long time, I had it filled with boxes of junk and automotive tools over years and been working on going through it for months. Anyway, I made space for this grinder to function in. There is more interest in grinding and cutter grinders than I expected.
I looked at those and did not realize those were balance weights on the back of the hub. I have an older type hub with adjustable weights and it looks much different, more bulky. That was a great buy on the hubs!
Don, I am excited to learn surface grinding with your videos! Your Harig looks great. Could you show the oil pump? I have a very old Concord 6x12 that’s look very similar, but it doesn’t have an oil distribution. It also has the rack and pinion that you showed.
Worked in a few machine shops where these harig 6x12 were part of equipment in the 80s. Would love to add one to the hobby shop but can't justify the space and cost atm.
Olá amigo Don uma satisfação em ver seus trabalhos máquinas fantásticas!!!
Boa sorte sempre!!!

I had to look the machine up, amazing!

I bought eight of those hubs with balancing weights for $25 each on eBay, new. Now, the prices have jumped to $92.50 to $132! I got really lucky.

@ sometimes I get lucky!😀
Now that is a nice machine. Good video.
Thanks, looking forward to putting it to use again
Hi Don. your surface is very similar to the Sanford I have. the machine I have has ways that are bolted to the bottom casting.
Hi Randy, I have been looking at old photos of grinders, Sanford made a really interesting tiny bench size one.

Hi, I will show the oil pump, it is not original for the machine but works, thanks.
Thank you
Hi, thanks for tuning in!

The grinder is small enough, I was able to stick it away when I closed my commercial shop in 2006, nice to have now, thanks.
Nice little surface grinder. Thanks for the video, P.S. how many you think know how to scrape in a machine inthe Walla Walla area?
I don't know how many are left that could scrape machine ways in this area.
Well done Don❤
Hi, Paul, hope you are doing well
