The little stubby shifters always look out of place in the classic Mustangs. The long shifter just looks right in the Mustang. Plus the positioning of it is almost perfect. Your hand can come right of the steering wheel and end up right on the shifter. And it's good to see another Mustang video. I'm not a jeep fan so it's been a while since I've watched any of your videos.
I made the same modification to my Camaro and a M22 Muncie. My shifter was similar size to the one you installed and I ended up tweaking it a bit shorter by drilling a 3rd hole and shortening it about an inch. Made all the difference. You might try it if you find the throw a little too much like I did. Love the series!
As always, everything looks clean and spot on, and it even makes satisfying noises already (oooh the way these pedals and shifter sound "solid" already !). Good job :)
just picked up a 63 galaxie 390 4 speed black on black car and it needed a new shifter. Being a mopar guy I was hesitant to buy it but I fell in love with it, I had to buy it and it needed a new shifter installed, this helped a ton, thank you very much!
@@AutoEdits oh I will! It was originally a 6 cylinder 3 on the tree car but somebody years ago converted it and boy am I glad they did! It's a hoot to drive and cruises down the road at 70mph super smooth, couldn't of asked for much more besides a nicer trunk pan lol oh and it's a fast back sitting on some wide steel wheels, looks like a old stock car I love it!
My that is bitchin! Every video of marge gets me so excited to see it done! That shifter just fits the old school style especially with the super Boot and white ball! It makes me so excited for the summer to get my 71 grande out of storage!
Can’t wait to see the tune up on the engine with that EFI kit!!! Going with a similar build but on a sbc with a 177 blower. Curious to see how and what it takes to make her run good with that Holley EFI setup! Keep up the cool videos 👍🏼👍🏼
autoedit I just got done putting a 530 hp 460 (The one pictured in my avatar) into a 79 Lincoln mark V. I documented it on Instagram but not here. Soon I hope to start my 5.0 coyote/tko600 swap into my 73 mach 1. But do it more of a vlog like what you're doing.
Great video man!! just love the old skool look … I have a71 Chevelle with a T5 from a 87 Camaro .. The only thing that I want to replace is the shifter and stick that came off a S10 … The center console won't fit cause the trannie is slightly secured to the left and the shifts are too long.. This is the shifter that I want to install any ideas thanks in advance. Jason.... I just found your videos! I am just starting a build on my 1971 fastback high school ride on my youtube channel "Ob1n". My plans are for a 331 stroker, MSD throttle body injection, C6 automatic with Gear Vendors Underdrive, Baer brakes and other general enhancements. I'm really liking what you are doing with your mustang. I'll be quick to admit I'm not much of a fan of coupes in the 71-73 bodystyle yet you are doing an incredible job to make it look enticing. I really like your wheels. I'm heavily weighing the idea of using the TCP suspension that you are incorporating in your car. I'm just not sure if I can afford to do it all at once like you're doing. I know what kind of time it takes to create videos like you are doing; I appreciate you doing so regardless of the long hours. Unfortunately, I have a little more rust than you do. I'll be spending quite a bit of time and money getting the rust eliminated and metal replaced/repaired. It's really nice to be able to see how how to do this stuff before I have to buy it and trial-fit... almost like cheating. I have certainly subscribed and will be anxiously awaiting updates as you provide them. I doubt that I will be much help for you since you are far ahead of me yet you are always welcome to get ahold of me if you'd like through my "Ob1n" channel. I apologize if I missed it somewhere but I don't recall seeing you installing any subframe connectors to handle that supercharged windsor that you stuffed between the fenders?? I went with Tin Man Fabrications connectors on mine. I really like the fact that they insert into the original, front subframe tubing, they fit tight to the floor, look great, and they are very robust. Continue with the excellent work and I will be following along as I build mine. I have a bad habit of getting to work and forgetting to start recording with my camera! LOL! You are inspiring me to be better! Laters! Brian "Ob1n" of RUclips
Really awesome to hear from you Brian! I've been dragging on the Mustang project lately and working on the "running" vehicles more. Thanks for the tip on the sub frame connectors... I did install global west connectors and they don't sit tight to the floor at all. I'll make sure to check out some of your videos as well. Oh, and don't forget to hit the record button! I've done it to...
Think a mid length shifter arm between the short one and that one you have on. That long one just looks way too long for me and it reminds me of the semi trucks with the 8 ft long shift handles.
i would have just cut and weld in a pice of round stock, to make the b and m shifter longer. why did you not do this? and instind get the hurst shifter.
Hey Jason! I have a question about the jeep, or any lifted 4x4 vehicle. Why do some lifted jeeps or suv’s get the feared death wobble, and what can be done to prevent it? I fear that will happen in my 97 land cruiser. Thanks
Which shifter did you end up liking more? The trans am style or shorter length? Looking for comfort and accurate shifting. getting a t56 magnum in my 72 n gotta decide on a shifter. Thank you
I really enjoy the longer shifter more. Give this video a watch to see how good ruclips.net/video/qSJ72eAVZFU/видео.html Sounds like you have a great project there!
That shifter looks too long to me. You need to be somewhere between the long and short one in my opinion. Ditch the ball and put a classic t-handle on!!

Waiting for the next one of these videos! Continually restoring my '73 and this series is opening up all sorts of options I hadn't thought about
Wonderful to hear... sorry for the delays but the running stuff has to come first.
That's the way to go . Customize to what it fills good. Awesome!

Great shifter .. I'm a little old school, and like the leverage of a beefy length shifter .. Good job on all of it ..
Awesome to hear from ya! Thanks so much!
All the right angles for those hand made shifts! Cool Stuff!
Thanks dude!
The new shifter looks great! Loving the Mustang project. Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what's next.

I love this dude's excitement
Thanks, I think? LOL

Yea that's cool. Bring what matters back to driver. Pleasure to watch. :)))
Dang, thanks so much!
I can't wait to see this thing fully built. You're a beast!
Dude! Another great video, I know I'm late but still inspired.
Hey, thanks!
You should do a video on all that wiring when the time comes:)
I’m thinking about that but it may be even more boring than normal. Probably something tho
Saw the Instagram post and thought..no way we’ll see a video tonight. Nice job sir!!
HA! I worked all afternoon to get this up... thanks for checking it out and saying hey!

No more Mustang posts until we see that thing fired up! The car sound effects just aren't gonna cut it. Haha.
All ways liked the look of the Hurst shifters. Thinking of one for my bmw when the engine swap gets underway.
Cool!
I've been waiting for the next large Marge video

Yes there is more planned for the Mustang. Stay tuned

That is sweet! Im sure she will throw some rubber down and is going to be the next best thing to a super car.

Worst car noises ever! Haha... Don't ever make those in your Jeep...

Thanks!
Awesome thanks
That shifter is awesome, gonna be so much fun to drive! I have that exact same Blue Michelin Floor Jack, lol
HA!
how much would a build like this run yo?
Are you planning any body work or paint work
Yes, but the priority is get it running and driving... sort it out... beat on it a bit and THEN paint and body!
autoedit i did same with my maverick
What steering wheel is that
What's the part # for that long Hurst shifter

@@AutoEdits thanks
The first shifter was too short, but that one is too long. You need one somewhere in the middle...
Are you worried about pushing too much power through your t5? Is it a tremec or from a late model mustang?
It's a Borg Warner and yes, a little worried but will deal with it when it happens!
haha I'm in the same boat, but not as much power as you. Good Luck!
YEAH!
