I hiked that mile from Woody Gap to Preacher’s Rock and back. I will soon be 70 and can’t see myself doing a thru hike so I’ve got a goal of 1 mile in each of the 14 states! Headed to Gatlinburg to hopefully do Clingman’s Dome for my TN hike. Enjoying following you girls!! Dot❤

I like the content that you upload. Love trusting in the Lord for your path on the trail. A couple months ago, my wife, friend and I were hiking near Manassas Gap shelter and met a couple with a HUGE but friendly dog, that owned a hostel nearby. Super friendly and the guy did glasswork like your AT charm. Happy hiking.

Little Bear, your eyes lit up sooo big when you said French fries! Made my day! There were just a few things that really got me smiling when I came upon trail magic. I never got French fries but there was a lady in Pennsylvania that didn't see many hikers that day and gave me 1/2 of a peach pie! I imagine that my eyes looked similar to yours with the French fries. You two are smiling more and more and seem to be really enjoying it. Keep the great attitude and just one more step each day. I am happy to see you are pushing low milage and not many miles per day and you are disciplined to do so. I watched one video where a hiker asked a shuttle driver what the secret of a successful hike? He said to start out slow for the first two weeks and then slow down even more. There is some truth in it. Many people that have about 100-200 miles in already are in pain already and so many tell of the 20 + miles per day. Enjoy your hike! You and Little Bear are so refreshing to watch!

I love seeing the process of the things you have to do in the mornings and evenings. Little Bear is so self-sufficient! I can tell she is an experienced hiker and camper! I know plenty of adults who don't have those skills and that confidence. Being in the bubble is challenging, but I know it will thin out as time goes on. Y'all are doing so great!

Preacher's Rock! Sometimes I think about what it would be like to camp there with a bunch of folks on a Saturday night and get up the next morning and give a short devotional. On Preacher's Rock. How cool would that be. Hey, y'all be very careful in the bubble with the Noro going around. 50 minute pack out! This here is exactly why I homeschooled my kid…. People don’t understand the power and freedom to learn these things- parents fully involved ad the bond we have between us. Your kids learn life skills not sitting for hours. I think education is very important but so is living life and having confidence in one’s self. This is such an amazing thing for you both!
