The beginnings of him becoming his character is Derek. If you listen to these podcasts as many times as I do then you can pick up on the foundations of Ricky's projects that he went on to do afterwards. You can literally hear his brain ticking over as he gathers inspiration and notes from these shows. And then turns them into award winning programs. Boy genius springs to mind! 🙏🏻👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻
That’s it then. I’ve just got through every single XFM show and every single podcast and I believe this is the last one. Took me 4 months roughly. I did hear some of it 20 years ago but this was my first proper re listen to everything. I have to conclude that all of this content (the xfm shows and the podcasts) are without question the most entertaining and funny form of media I have ever experienced in my 41 years on earth! I can see why people go back to beginning and listen over and over again now 😂 Anyway nobody might read this but I had to get that off my chest. Pure comedy gold / entertainment.

Anyone notice the stories Steve and Rick tell about their family are entirely mediocre and boring? Steve and Rick owe a hell of a lot to Karl for the podcast and Ricky Gervais show.
get Karl in celebraty big brother, people might watch it then. Have guests and challenges designed to annoy him, they could booby trap faulty tiles and leaky taps. Make sure the garden is full of all types of bugs for karl to save and there must be a swimming pool for the flies to drown in. Have Ricky as consultant throughout the series dreaming up different scenarios and he and Steve could present the show with this unknown to Karl
Ricky and Steve sometimes really do make me face palm. Why is it they question the simplest of things when Karl comes out with it? Take for example eating breakfast on the bed with the wife. Obviously Steve is too lonely to know what that's like, and Ricky, well i don't even know.
