Thank you for ALL of the gardening advice you give to us! I also used your advice on how to pick a ripe watermelon... I actually picked out a decent tasty watermelon using your directions. Thank you and I know your Grandfather is proud of your gardening accomplishments.
I am growing amaranth for the first time this year, which is supposed to be a good spinach substitute. My brother's GF said it's great in authentic Chinese food as well but hard to find in stores in the US. The seeds can also be used.
@@ChandrasekaranSrinivasan Right now I only have a red variety which adds a cool color punch. I'm thinking of ordering more varieties next year to add more color. Unfortunately it has gotten very good reviews from local beetles. I'll have to try malabar next year. It grows like a vine right? Would it be a good add to a mulch bed?
@@JohnFerrerAkaEricSure. I see less bugs on green than red one. yes. malabar is vine type. but I don't put any trellis support... i just keep taking the leaves and cut the wines (just keep it like a small bush plant). It keeps growing well till October.

Thank you Jag, I always trust your tutorials! Thank you for educating us with valuable informations. I followed your grapevine pruning instructions and I am amazed how it’s producing so many grapes. I cannot thank you enough for being such an inspiration to me, as a gardener. Happy gardening!
Thank you for being so clear and precise. Other gardeners give the same advice but you put it in a way that I can understand quickly and get right back to work. You also help me plan ahead. Thank you
I love your channel. I did a lot of bag & container growing this year (an experiment). Direct seeded corn, beans & potatoes. After heavy rains, my garden flooded for the first time. The containers and bags did very well, but I'll have to reseed the corn & beans. After this video, I feel inspired. Thank you for all the tips

Super happy to see this. I did a revision to my garden and it killed my squash😢 but im going to plant more. We dont get frost til like dec or jan so we got plenty of time. I now have 2 empty beds ready to plant. We are seeing 95 degree days already but the rain is keeping up and that helps. Hopefully we wont have a drought like last year.
Weather is good to sow directly outside right? You need to grow seedling indoor only if you want start bit early. I am also in 7b and already see few veggies (gourds, eggplants & bell peppers) started coming this week.
@@ReapWhatYouSowGardening I grew them in greenhouse and transplanted. No worries. You would get them soon. May be different varieties. I get ridge gourds one variety early and other one little late.
Good to know. I’m in the PNW, Oregon, and it’s still raining this year. Very rare for us, it’s usually very dry by now. Next week we should finally warm up.
As always another superb video with loads of amazing content and just to the point. Love watching your videos and my kids like to harvest the veggies I grow and they are just 5,7,10. Big thanks to you brother keep it up 👍🏻
I planted my beans end of last month, along with winter and summer squash, I am in zone 8 so temps are already getting into 80s and down to high 60s at night.
Here in the Deep South, we can plant many vegetables in June. It’s fairly common to plant some veggies early for a spring/early summer harvest, and a second planting for a harvest late summer/early fall.
Take your summer kissed cherry tomatoes, slice in half, give them a pinch for the seeds and jelly. Dehydrate and enjoy year round. Want to get fancy, add some herbs or onion.

OK. The higher the hardiness zone number, the lower (warmer) the latitude. I'm in zone 8b. Is hardiness zone 9 below me because it's further south or is Minnesota below me (even tho it's north of me) based on the fact that MN's hardiness zone numbers - between 5a and 3b - are lower than my number 8a? Sorry to be so dumb, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what you mean by below and above! Lol. Duh. I guess it's all moot for me, tho. I just moved here and don't have my garden spaces prepared yet. Alas! Thanks for all you've taught me, Jag! Love your channel!!
