Mint is a weed and really doesn't care.
As long as you don't nuke it with too much heat, she should be just fine and dandy for years to come.
Similarly to Rosemary, be sure to pick a designated section for these herbs exclusively. They both tend to take over, as they should.
      Happy gardening.

Thank you for your input on the shade/no shade herbs n veggies. I am in Florida, where of course, it's Always hot! This was very helpful to me. On your mulberry trees, this will sound odd, but has worked very well for me. I grew my own mango, avocado and carambola trees from seed with an abundance of fruits. To stimulate sugars action once mature, add epsom salts around base of tree, and also to stimulate provoking fruits,; hold a small piece of wood/board against the trunk (to protect) of tree while using a mallet to pound the wood around the trunk. This actually works .... Can't hurt to try, I felt silly when I first did it, but was so shocked at the size of my avocados! And the sweetest Mango's and starfruits! I love the mulberry, I have a dwarf tree, I make muffins, cakes, pies and jams with them.....🥰

Great video! This lines up with my experience in USDA Zone 9b. I can especially attest to warm-season crops such as basil, cherry tomatoes, beans, and squash. I’m a huge fan of growing mint and basil in the shade. Full sun is indeed optimal for the other three, but they will still produce for me in partial sun or shade. It’s unfortunate because growing guides often advise against anything short of 6 hours full sun, which may deter new gardeners with limited space. Thanks for spreading the word!

This was great! Thank you! I didn't know that about the herbs so now I'm going to be moving them into some shade.

Really helpful video! Thanks for sharing all this helpful information. This will make a big change in how I arrange my large herb pots this year. I dehydrate herbs for the year, so this will make for much better herb yields.

I have never had luck with lettuce but I have always planted all my plants in the small part of my yard that has full sun.(jalapeños LOVE it) After watching your video 1) I will move my basil and mint which are in a pot. 2) I am going to try some shade loving plants in those vast parts of my yard which are shaded.

Wonderful video. I have a shady garden and clayey soil here in Northern California. You have given me some ideas on how to use some extremely shady spots in my garden. Thanks and maybe I will make a video of my progress on my GreenLove channel!

    Hi,
    NEW SUB HERE!!!
I know this is an old video but not much has changed in the gardening world since then...
I live in San Tan Valley, AZ which has a Hardiness zone of 9B. I'm basically a newbie here just learning what works and whatnot.
My potatoes ...all planted from scraps! I planted them in grow bags under the table in the greenhouse when we were still seeing chilly night-time temps in the mid-forties. They've grown quite leafy and bushy by now! But everything except the potatoes and tomatoes is burning up in the greenhouse in temps as high as 98 degrees Fahrenheit. There are some other things thriving there but they're all growing in Krakty pots and I must've accidentally got something right with them. My trouble here is in not knowing what sun-loving plants I can get away with growing in the shade. I have germinated a couple watermelon seeds that I plan to sow on the sunny edge of the shade garden. Would that work for me?
Also, My Iceberg Lettuce is one of the things I have growing in a Krakty pot [ hydroponics "set it and forget it"] and it's just producing like there's no tomorrow in full sunlight in the 98-degree greenhouse heat... BUT all my other lettuce planted in soil pots had to be moved out of the greenhouse into the shade because they were all wilting and dying. I think a lot of gardening tips and info really depends on your HARDINESS ZONE.
