I never went to art school either I was self taught as well, and I have sold over a thousand painting s God bless you. It just goes to show if you have the desire to create something that you learned on your own it's more rewarding then going to art school. No degrees so what . It's your talent and your skill you learn on your own. Makes it more enjoyable.
Amazing Carly😍😍
Can you put some tutorial videos on portrait drawing... 🙏
how do you know if its more rewarding if you never went to art school?
So true ☺️
I love to see the process and how you do the different values, just amazing. And I like that you saw that it just wasn’t for you, the blue tint background, and was determined to take your time, correct it to your liking and move forward in your work. An amazing video Carley!!
I haven't yet came across another artist on youtube dedicated to your chosen medium. Keep inspiring. Love your work.
check out Dylan Eakin, a so-called photo realist--but I warn you, the results are definitely questionable.
Jono Dry as well
Carly, I really enjoy watching your videos because when I'm finished watching I am left in a state of awe at how so very good you are, wow.
I hope you enjoy your new studio it's not the studio that makes the artist it's the artist that makes the studio keep up the awesome talint that you have and bring the talent you have that's what makes a studio.,
I loved the tones background...and I always find it amazing how dark you're able to get. Gosh, you must go through an insane amount of the darker pencils because they are a lot softer...well, at least mine are, obviously I can't speak for you :) but it's so cool to see it start to come to life. And the realness(not a word I'm sure😊) of how you draw a line or 2 but stop and really look at them to either analyze or agonize over each one...I'm not even close to your level of talent so I'm more in the agonize over every line area...im sure you're much more comfortable with yours and are just taking you time to make sure it what you want. Bit seeing the process is always cool.
I also am forever amazed at what blending and shading do...its absolutely my favorite part when I'm drawing!! Because at first, when I lay down some areas of shading with my pencil, it, to me, again, just my personal feeling for my stuff..I see that first go and it is just pencil lines and looks more like when I was a kid drawing...but then when I get to blend it out and it looks smooth and blends into the rest..then boom...it suddenly looks so cool and alive :) art, all types of art, are just always so amazing to me and make me very happy even on days, like today, most days now, when I'm in so much pain I could scream....but watching gorgeous art being made by you and other awesome artists on here is wonderful and helps me stay super motivated and inspired for the days or moments when the pain lessens and some energy flows in and I can have some fun too!!
So thanks, as always for sharing your work and your life Carly :)
And I'm happy you got your table set up!! I'm sure you'll be way more comfortable. When you were kinda squatting down my whole body was like "oh my gosh it hurts it hurts!!" AaahaHhahaa but, that's just my own body freaking out!!😆🤣😆 but, definitely glad you're able to work however is comfortable for you :) and so brave to have fixed that entire background replacing the blue you didn't like...im pretty sure my shaky hands would've been like "ok, we're doing good...we're doing good....oh dang, just swiped through her face!🥺" but that's just me🙄😆🤣
Anyway, thanks again and I hope you're doing well!!! :)
Wow...the details, the techniques... looking forward to seeing it finished!!! Awesome video, beeeautiful and sooo peaceful😌
90 percent of people don't have the talent you have as a artists. You are truly a gifted woman. Artists are not made they are born.
Spectacular. Lovely chilled ambiance in the vid too. Great work!
I don't know what makes me more excited.. your amazing work or the patience to pull out this amount of details 😃
I have also drawn many pencil drawings, but never on such a large scale. The way you use water and pencil to draw the girl portrait is amazing. It is true that art is beyond imagination, and your painting proves it.
ENJOY !!!
Amazing piece of art. I loved all the various techniques used in it. Watching the rough pencil strokes getting converted to smooth beautiful shades using brush is one of my most favorite and most relaxing things to see. While you work mostly in grey and black the quality of artwork add many colors of happiness to all art enthusiasts. I liked how light strokes of pencil were used on cloth in crosshatching technique. While pastel was removed from the artwork I really liked the blend of two mediums. Drawing you're working on looks very precise, sharp and perfect so far so really excited for its completion. You're doing great work. Keep it up 👍
Thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼 really appreciate your thoughtful comments ! Love that you get a lot from my videos
Love watching you create and this series is going so well Carly.
Soooo glad i found your channel. Love your charcoal drawings. Very beautiful.
You’re so kind. Thank you so much 🥰
From this video, I learn a lot of charcoal painting. Start from preparation. It's good video. Thak You for sharing this. 🙏.
Best regards from Indonesia
incredible work Carly ….
This is the art of putting fragments of your sole into your drawing
truly inspiring work considering you are self-taught... great job Carly .....
extraordinary work is beautiful, I congratulate you
Another amazing artist.
love your work Carly, excellent control , beautiful tones. the end result is very satisfying--this is what we want from "graphite artwork" (if we call it that), not photorealism which I am very skeptical about (Dylan Eakin especially) . just love it, well done.
This means so much. Thank you!!
Wow! I’m so impressed and I love it again.☺️❤️
God bless.🙏🏻

Large scale drawings are a challenge - have one going myself! Best of luck with yours!
So admire your patience. I gather you spend hours a days on art. I’m guessing an introvert like me?:) I draw my energy from being alone and of course particularly while drawing. Thanks for all your inspiration! JS (California)

Very beautiful 💛💛💛
Amazingggg😭🥺💞
i love this video soo so so so much
This is brilliant ❤️
Amaging and nice work
I'm curious; you are using charcoal powder to draw/paint on a large sheet of watercolour paper. You first activate the sizing from the watercolour paper by wetting it with wide brushstrokes. Then you apply first layers of charcoal. I presume that activated paper sizing "grabs" the charcoal particles and you don't need to fix the charcoal powder with fixative for a while? Do you add any binder to the charcoal powder later on?
So great ❤️❤️❤️
uah! mamma mia! a beautiful woman draws a beautiful woman...🤩🤭😉🌛🌞🌛🌞
Nice work❤️👍
Amazing video, you art is wonderful!!😍😍
Thank you 🥰
Beautiful work. I love how you use charcoal almost like a watercolor for your background. I may try this approach soon. SUB'd!
Wow wow
Wow Absolutely so good content with beautiful art 🤩 keep it up stay blessed enjoy your time✌️👍🤗💟🇵🇰
Welcome to my channel and stay connected dear sis🤗🤝🔔
I need like these papers 🥺
Beautiful an artist
رهيبة ما شاء الله ❤️🌹✨
very nice work -
Wonderful
You are video go to sleeping mode ◉‿◉
Nice work
Do you prohect the image to draw or is it done freehand? Thanks. My main interest as an illustrator is the actuall "drawing" of the image. Not so much the application of the greyscale coloring.
I had the same question. The moment in the video goes from prepping the paper to an already fully drawn image. This video skipped the only part I was waiting for 😊
Hi,amazing work im an artist also pencil mostly i would like.to know where you buy your drawing paper from?
Es hermoso tu técnica. Me gustas los dibujos a sombra.
Se pueden laquear los dibujos después de haber aplicado tu técnica?..
Felicidades y saludos desde Colombia!!
Hey Carly. I am a recent subscriber. Love your work and approach. One thing that really tickles me is that you wear white tops. I always think you must get covered in charcoal dust. While watching you blend your work, and having watched several of your older posts, have you ever tried using make-up sponges for blending. They are great for charcoal and graphite. They have a strange surface tension that seems to push the medium about in such a different way. I assume they sell them in Australia. Have a great day.
Yes thank you ☺️ I love using sponges !
Amazin
Thank you. Very beautiful😍❤. I also like drawing charcoal. Amazing 👍 material. What kind of paper do you use?
Hello! Beautiful work! What type of paper do you use, if anyone sees this in the comments and has the answer please let me know!
Have u ever thought of printing an A4 bw copy on office paper and retouching it with graphite just as an in-between stage of work, before going to the big one...? Only curiosity.
Your technique is... beginning with charcoal powder in a wash of water... and final retouches with very soft graphite pencil... is it, or am i wrong at some point...?
Thanks for your attention.
Me fascinated and putting total attention at your artistic processes.
so only ... thank you ..more ...so thanks....
I love you charly Rene'e
Very few of have your talent.
Best
Terimakasih dengan melihat ini aku merasa tenang dan lebih baik 😗
💞💯🎨🎨🎨
❤❤❤
Hello I love your work. I’m wondering what type of paper do you use for these large projects
It's kind of like photorealism. But photorealism has its limits. It's a dead end.
Hello Carly!!! Era necesario preparar el soporte en el suelo? Parece un poco incomodo. Estos trabajos son para exposición o encargos? Te quedan preciosos. Me sigue encantando como dibujas. Gracias por este nuevo video. No dejes de mostrarnos tu arte. 🥰😘
Yes for cutting the paper ☺️ thank you so much
Oh and they’re for an exhibition
@@carlyrenee.art Carly te deseo mucho éxito en la exhibition. Haces tus dibujos con mucho cariño y son preciosos. Les gustará a mucha gente. Felicidades!!! 🥰🙅♂️
