    The Korean cookies are light, sweet, and delicious. They are super-smooth and soft and don't require any baking at all. Check them out and let me know if you use the recipe!

    When I was in Korea 35 years ago, I’d buy these little chestnut cookies from street vendors. Very delicious, esp in the wintertime; they were fresh and hot! Wonderful memories!

    Just made it again today. My back is aching! The last time I made this, everyone liked it and ate it all. This time I made a lot lot more. 2.5 hours of peeling, mashing and grinding the chestnuts but! But!! Now I’m sat down with my green matcha milk and a plateful of heaven! Totally worth it!

    I have just made them. If anyone wants to try it - be sure to use a very deep pestle and mortar. I think I need a coarser sieve. Now, I’m going to have my very late lunch, coffee and a couple of those cookies.

    I have 2 American Chestnut trees and they produce buckets of seeds every year. Always looking for interesting recipes. Really enjoy Chestnut soup. One suggestion. put a small slice or X into the raw Chestnut with a knife, then boil. The hull and skin will come off easily. It doesn't ruin the meat.

    I read up about Yulan. It was actually part of the Korean Royal Palace recipe as King's snack or dessert.
    Wow!

    I love chestnuts ! They are very traditional for christmas here. We soak them in water for an hour, then boil them in salt water for 6 minutes. Then cut a cross in the shell and rost them in the oven for 25 minutes at 200°C.

    if u put them in that mortar and light crush it the shell opens n u peel easily so that u get the whole nut out. or u can put the in the oven for 30-40 seconds, the shell opens up n u take out a whole nut. scooping out with a spoon is leaving some in the shell. thats the African way girl.

    I made these! They are so delicious and very healthy for 'cookies'. I used rice syrup instead of honey as I am vegan. Also I didn't use fresh chestnuts so it was really hard to force them through the sieve. But worth it :)

    • @Jason-mf3rt
      @Jason-mf3rt 6 лет назад

      Just put the chestnuts in an electric blender and you won't need to put them through the sieve. They come out so fine & it's done in an instant.

    I love chestnuts can't wait to try this. You should try eating them roasted in the oven! In winters I always make them this way, just cut them half way in to make a dent and put them in the oven. Then you can peel the skin off easily and it tastes amazing.
