No luck at all! We burnt out a piston in qualifying (so missed race 1) and pressure was down on the other cylinders after that even with a new piston and barrel. We're not entirely sure what this was, unless it was more of the same. We have been mixing engine parts for a couple of seasons now and think the best way forward would be to stick a full set of pistons and barrels on, but have found something gritty in the oil, so there's no point doing that without a full strip and clean... unfortunately that will probably put us out for the rest of the year! We'll be getting our heads together later this week to see what to do, and should know what caused this one by then. My driving has come on massively, so it would be a shame to stop now - even with this major power loss I was able to get within 0.5 secs of my qualifying time just making it up in the corners!
l hated chasing problems like that but Glen was and l am sure still is a great engine builder. l once had a similar problem with stuff in the oil which turned out to be, not one but two bad valve guides, which we chased for about three meetings. Anyway, good luck and if you do miss the rest of the year.....come back stronger next season.
Was it internal or valve cover problem? lt started on down shifts but eventually was continuos.....not a lot of luck so far this season.
