If New Balance (or anybody who is on the "in" with shoe designers) is listening, the original design of the boa on the Fuel Core (I believe now it's being called "sonic") was great. It worked just like an offset lace, the shoe construction was doing a good share of the work, and the boa was just like a lace. I do not like the look of this "V2" Fuel Core Reveal, which has the big flap, and the boa that, rather than running in a figure 8, runs in a triangle and cinches up to the back heel cup material. It seems to be the case with every sneaker these days that when the engineers have perfection, the geniuses in marketing show up and say, "We need an 'upgrade' for next model year." Just change the colors - fine - but stop changing the structure of the shoe. There is a reason why people are still going out and buying 990's. This shoe could have been the 990 of the kid's shoe world, but with this redesign I'm reluctant to buy again (my kid loved the old ones and specifically asked for them again) as I foresee that strap will restrict pronation / supination making it basically no good as a shoe for athletic big-kids, kinda relegating to a niche toddler shoe for parents who are "too cool" for velcro.
Thanks for making this video. Bought these shoes for my son online and had no idea what the BOA button was for.
I wish this colorway was still available
